Phoebe and Max Thunderman have to babysit their younger siblings, Billy and Nora Thunderman, while their parents, Hank and Barb go out to dinner. Phoebe invites her best friend Cherry over and accidentally exposes the families super power abilities. Meanwhile, Hank and Barb are out for dinner and Hank (Thunderman) has to replace a party entertainer.
Just as Hank reminds the children about their "no non-supes" (non-superheroes) in the house, Max plans to sabotage dinner when Phoebe has to invite her crush, Cole Campbell (guest star Logan Shroyer), and his rich family over. But just as Max's plans are in play, his crush, Tara Campbell (guest star Katherine McNamara) also arrives with the family, forcing Phoebe and Max to work together to keep the night for turning into a complete disaster; while also dealing with their family who is embarrassing them, trying not to be themselves.
Max changes the grades on his report card and is moved into an advanced class, at first only to annoy Phoebe and win the class over, but the two butt heads to stay in the class and win the Math Bowl. Meanwhile Hank, Nora and Billy try to catch a newspaper thief, and learn that the culprit might be more closer to home than they think.
Max and Phoebe create some fun for themselves on Ditch Day, but it becomes a race against time to rush to school and erase footage of Phoebe and Max using their superpowers. But as they try to get to the principal's office to get the footage, they have to participate in a country-Western themed dance to keep the guest for knowing their actual motives for being at the school. Meanwhile Barb is sick and Hank is babysitting the younger siblings, who unknowing to him, are trying to get in on the older ones' plans.
Phoebe becomes heartbroken when she thinks her tickets to the MKTO concert were destroyed in the shredder, but she does not know the tickets are with Max, who has secret plans to take his crush to the concert to make her fall for him. Meanwhile, Nora feels her family is replacing her with new paper shredder machine that Hank buys.
It centers on the family as they begin a new era of superhero crimefighting. When one save goes wrong, the Thundermans are sent back to Hiddenville.
