Burdock and Foley rescue a boy lost on a small sail boat who drifted out to sea. Later, the chopper cops respond to a shooting at a hotel. Two gunmen take a woman hostage. The gunmen head to the airport with their hostage only to divert to a country road that has a small plane waiting. Chopper One blocks the plane from taking off. The gunmen are captured.
Chopper One catches two burglars attempting to rob a supermarket at night. Later, Chopper One catches a hit-and-run vehicle hiding at the rim of a riverbead. Later, Burdick gets a call from an girl he knew while he was a rookie. The girl, Janie, now 20 years old and pregnant asks Burdick for help. Janie is mixed up with bad guys and is concerned that someone will take her baby away. Collins, her boyfriend and father of the unborn child, needs money and is with an ex-con named Eddie. Eddie tries to rob a drive-in box office but is stopped by Chopper One. In an emergency mid-air transport, Janie has her baby girl delivered inside Chopper One.
A Ford Mustang speeds though the streets while being pursued by a police car. Just as the speeder thinks he got away Chopper One catches them from above. Radio call that a man is hurt while hiking in the Sebastian Mountains. Chopper One makes a dramatic rescue of the injured hiker only to learn that he is hijacker! He forces Gil at gunpoint to make a prison break while his two accomplices hold Burdick hostage on the ground. Gil quickly lands Chopper One at a prison and picks up an inmate before the guards even know what happened.
Chopper One catches a mugger who snatched a purse from an elderly woman in Olive Park. Later, Chopper One receives a radio call, cutting in on the police radio, from a young ham radio operator, reporting a train that derailed. Chopper One flys over the switchyards only to learn that it was a fake call. McKeegan orders Foley to check out the fake radio call. The Watch Sergeant has the kid's address. Foley meets Pat Stratton and her son, David Stratton, almost twelve, who is arthritic and confined to his bed and wheelchair. Foley explains to David not to put in a fake radio call ever again. David explains that he was just lonely. Later, young David overhears some crooks talking about a bank robbery on their walkie-talkies. David tries to tell his mother, but she doesn't believe him. David breaks his promise to Foley and calls Chopper One on the police frequency. Foley tells David to get off the air. Later, Foley visits David and learns the story about the bank robbery rehearsal broadcast
Chopper One drops off Denny Johnson, an 11-year-old boy, who just makes it onto a bus to head to a little league championship game in which he'll be pitching. Later, Chopper One flies a wounded accountant, Arnold Nolan, out of the hospital to keep him in hiding until he can testify against crime boss, George Brenner in 24 hours. Gil and Don fly Nolan to a beach house for safe keeping. Captain McKeegan is disguised ad a fisherman and keeps watch on the beach house. Later, Nolan is lonely and sneaks into an empty room and calls his wife, Jean, to tell her to meet him at the beach house in the morning. George Brenner hired hoods, Regosi and Adams who were camped out all night at Jean Nolan's house. In the morning, they follow Jean Nolan to the beach house. Gil sees the cars approaching the beach house and he radios Don and McKeegan who are inside watching Arnold. Jean comes inside and stays overnight with her husband. The next day, a beach bum drives the green sedan to the beach house and Gil teaches Don how to fly Chopper One. Department regulations say that observers need to practice flying once a month. Gil cuts the engine as Don learns what to do in a free-fall. Chopper One lands hard but undamaged. Later, rooftop snipers set up a black-and-white patrol car in an ambush. One officer is shot after being dispatched to a fake call. Hoodlums, Maury Farrell and Tony Deetzer are part of The People's Liberation Army and they're gunning for cops. In an underground newspaper called, ""The Ripper,"" an ad was placed offering a $500 reward for ""a dead pig."" After the officer was shot, a later edition ad reads $2,000 reward for a ""pig spy helicopter."" Don and Gil visit Tom Seeley the newspaper editor to try to find out who placed the ads. Seeley said that he doesn't know and that the ads are mailed and paid in cash. After Don and Gil leave, Seeley heads over to Tony Deetzer's place. Chopper One responds to a jumper call. A man is about to jump off the Space Needle. Don on a rope and a sling connected to the helicopter approaches the jumper who has now changed his mind about jumping but is to afraid to get down.Don carefully places the man in the sling as Gil lowers the two men to the ground and safety. Later, at the Doyle mansion, Steven Dolye a successful surgeon is finishing his breakfast. His eighteen-year-old daughter, Jennifer leaves for school. Jennifer is kidnapped by Marklund and who with his partner Brandt drive away in a Parkside Dry Cleaning van. Later at night Captain McKeegan waits with Steven Doyle at the mansion. Marklund calls on the phone and demands $200,000 for Jennifer's return. Marklund knows the Police are monitoring the call tells them to deliver the ransom by 4pm tomorrow in a helicopter. Two burglars break into an electronics warehouse via the roof. Chopper One sees them leaving and swoops down to catch the thieves red-handed. Later, Captain McKeegan introduces Foley and Burdick to Mr. Chapman of the Immigration Bureau. Mr. Chapman is looking for an illegal alien named, Lee Kuan from Hong Kong. Kuan and another sailor jumped ship from a Panamanian freighter. The other man is in the hospital with typhoid fever. They have to find Kuan fast before he spreads the illness and it becomes an epidemic. Rita Chu is Kuan's girlfriend. She was spotted on a bus to El Centro with Kuan. Chopper One takes off to intercept the bus. Laura Burnett from the Public Health Service rides in the chopper with Gil and Don. Chopper One catches up to the bus and orders it to pull over to the side. They find Rita Chu on the bus but Kuan is not on it. Chopper One flies Chu back to Police Headquarters for interrogation.
