警視庁の中国語通訳人・有木野了は、容疑者聴取を終えた昼下がり、新宿のど真ん中で“サソリ”を食らうミドリ髪の女性を目にする。その風変わりな女性、実は国際捜査の警察官・鴻田麻里だった。外国人も日本人も関係なく、ぐいぐい人への興味を示す鴻田に対し、できるだけ他人と距離を置きたい有木野は、とても異なる者同士。だが、失踪した観光客の捜索から、国を跨いだ密輸ビジネスに至るまで様々な案件の捜査の合間、各国の食を共に食べるうちに、“胃”の合う絶妙コンビに変化していく。ある時ふたりは、オーバーステイになった在日外国人を狙う「ボランティア」なる組織と対峙する事に。それによって“パンドラの箱”は開き、鴻田は有木野が過去に抱えていた衝撃の悲しい出来事を知り始めていく・・・。
