Zum Beweis seines Könnens als Pokémon Trainer soll Ash an der Pokémon-Liga- Zulassungsprüfung teilnehmen. Viele Wege führen in die Pokémon Liga. Man kann wie Ash herumreisen und Orden gewinnen, indem man Pokémon-Arena-Trainer im Pokémon Kampf schlägt, oder an der Zulassungsprüfung teilnehmen. Natürlich ist Ash sicher, die Prüfung zu bestehen. Doch nach Abschluss des theoretischen Teils ist Ash zusammen mit zwei anderen Prüfungsteilnehmern, die ihm verdächtig bekannt vorkommen, Letzter.
Ash and friends arrive at a school that promises that if you can pass their tests, you can enter the Pokémon League without getting all the badges. Ash enters the school, and so does Jessie and James. The tests begin and Jessie is kicked out for complaining the tests are way too hard. Ash and James make it to the third part of the test where you fight with your examiner's Pokémon. Ash fights with Weezing and wins. James is delighted to see Pikachu by his side, but when he looses to a Graveler he sends out two Pokémon at once which is against the rules and is kicked out. For revenge, Team Rocket attacks the school with the Pokémon they got, but the Pokémon turned on them because they were owned by the instructor. Ash decides then that it would be easier to get all of the badges rather than go through these tests and he leaves the school.
Sur le conseil de Todd, Sacha s'inscrit dans une école dans laquelle on va lui faire passer de multiples épreuves. En cas de réussite, il peut participer au championnat Indigo sans avoir besoin des huit badges. Sacha obtient de très mauvais résultats aux questionnaires écrits. Heureusement, il se débrouille plutôt bien lors du test de combat réel avec des Pokémon au hasard. Mais Sacha abandonne les épreuves, car il préfère voyager et rencontrer les champions d'arènes pour récupérer les badges nécessaires au championnat de la ligue Indigo.
