Narutos Mutter erscheint plötzlich in seinem Unterbewusstsein und hilft ihm, sich vor dem neunschwänzigen Bijuu zu schützen. Danach erfährt Naruto von ihr, wie sie seinen Vater kennenlernte.
Naruto's initial attack is ineffective against the beast but wasting no time he flips the beast over and launches a Rasenshuriken at it. He immediately tries to separate the beast's chakra but the beast's hatred and malice begins to fill him. While in the training chamber, B alerts Yamato who begins to attempt to suppress the beast. As the hatred fills him he is reminded of the people that spurned him in his childhood but a small gentle voice rings out telling him that he could stay there. With that chains erupt from Naruto's body and restrain the beast who recognises them as Kushina Uzumaki's. Within Naruto's mind a kind-faced woman with long, bright red hair appears before him who Naruto initially believes to be the Nine-Tails trying to deceive him. After Kushina brutally corrects him — realising who she is — an emotional Naruto greets his mother. With this, the two begin to talk and Kushina tells Naruto of her youth and how she fell in love with Minato Namikaze.
Alors qu’il est en grand danger de se laisser submerger par la haine de Kyûbi, Naruto voit apparaître sa mère, Kushina ; elle interrompt le processus, et immobilise le démon renard avec son chakra particulier, lui révélant qu’en scellant Kyûbi en lui, son père, Minato, a introduit un peu de ce dernier dans le sceau pour aider leur fils à prendre le contrôle de Kyûbi au moment venu. Naruto en profite pour lui demander de quelle manière elle est tombée amoureuse de son père. Kushina lui raconte son arrivée à Konoha, sa première rencontre avec Minato, et combien les autres enfants de l’académie lui faisaient des misères à cause de ses cheveux, et de son origine étrangère. Elle lui explique que Minato a été le premier à la complimenter sur ses cheveux, lorsqu’il l'a sauvée d'un enlèvement orchestré par Kumo, faisant de lui l’homme de ses rêves.

Naruto continua su lucha contra el Kyubi y recibe ayuda de Killer Bee, pero el zorro parece estar ganando la batalla y cuando parece que ha triunfado aparece la figura de alguien, se trata de nadie más que su madre Kushina Uzumaki, Naruto se encuentra perplejo pero al saber que se trata de su madre se tranquiliza y esta le cuenta la historia de como llegó a Konoha entró en la academia y conoció a Minato, también como la recato de unos ninjas que la secuestraron y este logra salvarla.
