Antiquities dealer Shunpodo (Tojuro Sawamura) makes a living selling counterfeit antiques with museum director Nagai Kaoru (Takuzo Kadono). When potter Hyakukan Kawakita (Itoshi Yumeji) tries to reveal the scheme, he's shot dead and the scene made to look like theft. As Furuhata begins to investigate, Nagai becomes scared and plans to turn himself in, only for him to be killed by Shunpodo as well.
骨董商・春峯堂の主人（澤村藤十郎）は、美術館長・永井（角野卓造）と共に骨董品の贋作であくどく荒稼ぎをしていた。しかし陶芸家・川北百漢（夢路いとし）にそれを暴露されそうになり、物盗りの犯行に見せかけて射殺する。そして古畑の捜査の手が伸び、怖気づいて自首しようとする永井をも、春峯堂は殺害する。
