Doctor Kenichiro Inui (Masao Kusakari) visits mystery writer Rokusuke Hanami (Shunji Fujimura) for a house call. There, Hanami tells him that his wife Tsuneko (Isshikiko) is having an affair. The doctor is the one whom Tsuneko is having the affair with, and decides to kill the Hanami couple; staging it as a forced murder-suicide in the Kyogen theater. Inui's plan seems to have gone well with the suicide note left in the room and a testimonial from another person in the theater, but Furuhata notices something is wrong when Imaizumi causes a power outage.
医師・乾研一郎（草刈正雄）は推理作家・花見禄助（藤村俊二）の往診に訪れていた。そこで花見から妻・常子（一色彩子）が浮気をしていると相談を受ける。乾は狂言自殺をして妻の愛を確かめようと持ちかけるが、実は乾こそが浮気の相手だった。常子の存在が邪魔になっていた乾は狂言自殺を利用し、無理心中に見せかけ花見夫妻を殺害する。部屋に残された遺書とお手伝いの証言で乾の計画はうまくいったように見えたが、今泉が起こした停電により古畑はあることに気付く。
