Musician and former star Jann Arden is having a rough week in both her career and personal life. Her loyal manager Todd messes up her chance at a huge gig, and her ex Cynthia has decided to move on and see someone else. Things seem to be looking up when slick new manager Cale comes into Jann’s life, promising to reinvigorate her career. But that might prove challenging when her mom Nora, who’s showing early signs of memory loss, moves in with her.

Jann realizes Nora and Marty are on a date, and brings Max in to spy on them, with messy results. But in seeing Nora happy, Jann realizes she might be ready to jump back into the dating pool herself.
Through a celebrity dating app, Jann gets matched with Nate, a hot young actor. He takes Jann on a date outside her comfort zone — indoor skydiving. But things get even more uncomfortable when they run into Jann’s ex, Cynthia. Meanwhile, Max and Dave help Charley move into her first place with a roommate, only to discover their daughter is richer than they are.
Jann and Nate invite Max and Dave to join them for a couples’ weekend in the mountains. But when Max meets Nate it’s clear she has a problem with him. There’s tension between the sisters, until Jann figures out the truth: Max is a huge fan of Nate from his show “Dark Cupid” and is jealous of Jann. Meanwhile, Nora and Trey help Cale overcome her fear of failure.
A wealthy couple offer to pay for Jann to record her new album, but when Jann and Nate go to their mansion for brunch, it’s clear that they expect a favour in return: they want Jann to publicly promote their gender reveal company, a cause Jann’s not sure she believes in. At Charley’s photography exhibit, Max sees horrible pictures of herself and experiences a crisis of confidence.
Jann’s crowdfunding campaign for her new album reaches its goal, thanks to an $80,000 donation from a mysterious anonymous donor. Jann, determined to figure out who donated the money, enlists Trey to help her investigate her “suspects,” which culminates in crashing a funeral. But the biggest revelation comes while investigating Jann’s ex-girlfriend — as it’s clear Cynthia is truly moving on without Jann.
Nora is hosting Thanksgiving for the family at Jann’s cottage, and her one rule is to keep the drama out of the kitchen. This is easier said than done when you’ve got mother-daughter spats, surprise appearances by ex-girlfriends, and guest star Michael Bublé to contend with. But the biggest drama of all comes when Jann realizes she’s accidentally gotten herself into a love triangle.
