Inuk is crossing the ice floe with his family on their way to the Winter Camp. A storm builds up and Atana gives him a magic amulet before they are separated by the storm. Sedna is aware that a powerful rival has arrived in her realm. Kimik, with the help of the Moon Spirit, saves Inuk and protects him through the night. Inuk discovers that he can speak to Kimik and other animals and birds. In the morning, Tayara, the Shaman, who has been alerted to what is going on throught the Ukpik's eyes, travels with Akunaki to look for Inuk and bring him back to the village.
Inuk and Kimik go fishing on the ice floe with Akunaki and other fishermen. Inuk"s little sister Panik isn't allowed to go with them, but she secretly tags along anyway. As Inuk sets up his fishing hole, Sedna sends Tik, Tak and Tuk to grab his amulet. Ukpik warns Inuk that his little sister is in danger. Inuk rushes to save Panik and thanks to the intervention of Akina the whale, Inuk also recovers the amulet.
Inuk and Kimik set out on a hunting trip, but the bison refuse to help teach Inuk to hunt until he learns to remain absolutely quiet. A raven appears, which means the caribou cannot be far behind.
At the temporary Summer Camp, Akunaki has been complaining about the lack of wood for making tents. Inuk and Kimik go looking along the sea shore and see a large piece of wood, probably from a shipwreck, floating a little way out. With the help of his friends, Inuk brings the prize back to camp. However, Tik, Tak and Tuk are close by, and are determined to steal Inuk's amulet. Luckily, Kimik foils their plan.
