Captain Black and Captain Scarlet are sent to mars to investigate a mysterious alien signal coming from there. A misunderstanding occurs and the Mysterons vow revenge. They are killed and both become Mysteron agents. Back on earth Captain Scarlet tries to destroy skybase, but he fails, so Captain Black is revived to do the Mysterons bidding.
Captain Black kills a businessman and a Mysteron agent is created. Through him they begin to gather nuclear rods from power station and stockpile them in an isolated mine. Meanwhile, the Mysterons have also recreated a few Russian pilots who are en route to Skybase. Using the Russians in their vampires fighters, they attack Skybase, but are intercepted and destroyed be the Angels. Captain Scarlet and Blue are dispatched to locate the missing nuclear rods at a mine. When they arrive there, they run into Captain Black. He starts the count down for the detonation that will blow the world in half. Scarlet and Blue chase Black to stop the count down, then they are chased by a Russian Drusnik tank. The tank drives over a lake and falls through the ice, along with Black and another Mystron agent. The remote control is destroyed and the nuclear disaster is averted.
The Angel's intercept a Mystron controlled military transporter heading for Skybase. They destroy the transporter, but then a green swarm emgerges and attack Destinys White Falcon. The swarm close up reveal that they a little mechanical bugs, slowly devoering her fighter. As her Falcon fails she ejects and Captain Scarlet saves her. Back on Skybase Destiny has a shower and takes her uniform off, a lone surviving bug emerges from her clothing. soon multiple malfunctions begin to occur on Skybase. Spectrum find the base swarming with the bugs. Scarlet and Blue find out that the bugs are trying to reach engineering to overload the the engines and destroy the base. Scarlet heads to engineering to stop the bugs before its to late.
Captain Scarlet, Blue, Destiny, Harmony and the doc are heading to Mars after Spectrum lose contact with Elysium base on Mars. In orbit they are attacked and crash land the shuttle on the surface of Mars. They take the Bison on head for the base, en route they find another Bison from the base with the crew inside dead. At the base itself they find the entire personal killed. To get off the planet they need to fix the base's shuttle but require a component from their crashed shuttle. Soon they find out what killed them, a robot exploration probe taken over by the Mysterons. A fight en sues and Harmony ends up in a coma. Scarlet and Blue take out the robot and Destiny repairs the base shuttle. They all board and the shuttle blasts off.
An unidentified space capsule is tracked from deep space, entering the atmosphere to crash-land in the Arctic. Scarlet and Blue discover that the capsule is from the Endeavor II, a manned mission to Jupiter which disappeared fifteen years ago. Inside, two members of the three-man crew lie dead in their cryogenic tubes, but the third is miraculously still alive and revealed to be Commander Lewis - Lieutenant Green's father! Revived on Skybase and cleared by Dr. Gold's DNA test, Lewis is reunited with his daughter who offers to accompany him to the Space Agency in New Mexico. Then Scarlet learns that Dr. Gold had unwittingly performed the DNA test on himself, and the man being escorted to the Space Agency is a Mysteron replicant...
Destiny and Blue pilot the International Space Agency shuttle Mercury on a mission to deploy a new satellite in Earth orbit which will identify Mysteron energy on Mars and thereby provide early warning of imminent attack. As the shuttle achieves final orbit, Destiny suddenly loses control and the Mercury becomes locked into a new flight path. Then Spectrum receives a ransom demand from an extortionist who threatens to initiate the Mercury's re-entry over North America and crash the shuttle on Washington. With a nuclear power cell on board, the consequences are unthinkable - more so if Captain Black locates the extortionist before Scarlet and obtains the shuttle's access code!
The Angels have a close escape when on-board electronic systems fail. Scarlet and Blue find a connection with crop circles appearing in southern England and the only way to stop Captain Black is a piece of history.
In the African desert, Spectrum is assisting Professor Susan Todd of Hydra Laboratories with a revolutionary irrigation scheme, seeding the atmosphere with a hygroscopic compound to generate rain. Scarlet joins Todd for the initial experiment, sharing her excitement as the project proves to a complete success and she is caught in a torrential downpour. Back on Skybase, they celebrate with Colonel White and Hydra director Vandamm but Todd suddenly become paranoid and irrational, pulling a gun on Vandamm and taking him hostage. As the situation spirals out of control, the Colonel begins to suspect that the Mysterons have done something to the rain...
Destiny is selected to help test a new flight guidance system at the Aerospace. Research Unit but en route to Falcon Air Base she is ambushed by Captain Black. Shortly after, Destiny is caught on security cameras breaking into an office at the International Defense Force Headquarters and stealing top secret missile launch codes, badly injuring a security guard as she makes her escape. Scarlet is devastated to learn that Destiny appears to have been replaced by a Mysteron replicant and sets out to locate and eliminate the imposter, but the real Destiny is being held prisoner in a clinic where German scientist Janus has developed a device which transforms any face into a perfect copy of another!
Investigating reports of a Mysteron cell operating in Phoenix, Arizona, Scarlet trails a pair of Mysteron agents to a remote desert diner. There he overhears the agents bribing Spectrum flight-engineer Xander Story to smuggle a bomb aboard Skybase, but when he attempts to apprehend them, Scarlet is shot down. Then the Mysterons drive a petro-chemical truck into the diner and Scarlet is incinerated in the explosion. Blue finds Scarlet's body and returns it to Skybase, but Scarlet's injuries are too severe even for the retrometabolisation process and he is pronounced dead. However, Scarlet recovers consciousness to find himself apparently alive and well - until he realises that he has become intangible and none of his colleagues can see or hear him.
Colonel White's curiosity is piqued by a UFO report from the Scottish Highlands where an elderly lady, Mrs Mackenzie, claims to have seen green lights hovering over the Grampian Nuclear Power Station. Scarlet is dispatched in an Albatross to investigate the plant while Harmony takes a break from the nearby Spectrum Flight Training School to visit Mrs Mackenzie, accompanied by Spectrum Cadet Johnson. Arriving at the power station, Scarlet is assured by the Head of Security that not one of the plant's 400 personnel has seen anything unusual, but at Mrs Mackenzie's cottage, Harmony discovers that neither of her companions are what they appear to be...
Colonel White is dining in London with his daughter Victoria when he receives a report from Lieutenant Green that a Vampire fighter jet has been stolen from the USAF base at Little Marwood and is targeting the Schleswig-Holstein nuclear plant in Germany. While Spectrum's attention is distracted by this latest threat, Victoria is kidnapped and her abductors threaten to kill her unless the Colonel acquires a Spectrum Rhino to assist them in mounting a bullion robbery. White agrees to the demands while Scarlet and Blue attempt to trace Victoria's whereabouts, but they are unaware that the operation is being controlled by Captain Black who plans to bring about the downfall of the Spectrum organization!
Scarlet and Destiny are undergoing interrogation resistance exercises at the Spectrum Training Base in Scotland when the base commander, Astrid Winters, is killed in a car crash engineered by the Mysterons. Resurrected as a Mysteron replicant, Winters returns to the base with the stunning revelation that she represents a faction of the Mysteron Consciousness which does not believe in the war of nerves. Offering to detail how Spectrum can defeat the Mysterons, Winters insists that she can only deliver the information to Colonel White in person, but as proof of good faith she exposes the Mysterons' plans to wipe out Earth's scientific elite in a single strike on the World Science Congress!
Two scientists are killed and reconstructed by the Mysterons as assassins infected with a disease that can kill with just one touch. Captain Scarlet and Captain Blue are into a hunt against the clock to find them but unknown to the 2 Spectrum agents the Mysterons target is the president of The United States.
When members of the world Security Council start to commit suicide Colonel White sends Captain Scarlet & Captain Blue to invistigate. Captain Blue checks out one of council members computers and reads an email that hypnotizes him, he uploads the computer to Lieutenant Green. Blue drives of road but Scarlet saves him Blue goes into a coma. Scarlet takes him back to skybase. But the virus has spread to Skybase's computer systems.
Spectrum detects a massive unidentified spaceship leaving Mars which soon lands in the Australian Outback. Colonel White sends Captain Scarlet, Captain Blue, Captain Ochre and Captain Grey to investigate the spaceship. They boared the ship and find out that the renegade Mysteron faction has sent the ship which has the ability to time travel. Scarlet is told that he has a chance to go back in time and stop the war from happening.
Captain Scarlet follows Captain Black to Russia where Black meets with group of men from the Russian Navy Technology Division. Black double crosses the russians and kills them all and escapes with some kind of device. Scarlet chases him and they both end up ont he ice in the frozen wastlands. Black tries to kill Scarlet and steal his Rino but Black gets locked in and scarlet sneakes abored. The Rino goes through the Ice trapping the 2 men abored.
Doctor Phil Bogart is killed by the mysterons whilst he is rock climbing in Arizona, he is replaced by a mysteron replicant who steals a ‘Thunderpulse’ bomb. It soon becomes a race against time to find the 'Thunderpulse' bomb that Phil has hidden in a major city. When Spectrum descovers what has happend Colonel White informs Scarlet and Blue that Phil has a twin brother, Frank, who Phil shares a phic link with but will he help them?
Captain Scarlet, Colonel White and Lieutenant Green are aboard Proteus, a new state of the art stealth ship on it's maden voyge. The mysterons soon take over the ship and use the ships repair bots as weapons agains Scarlet, Green and White. Meanwhile the mysterons plan to use Proteus to shoot a chinese ship with the President of the Chinese People’s Republic on board and start a world war between America & China.
Vulcan Industries sends a 3 man crew to Mars to fix their mining post Syrtis Major even though its a breach of the Martian Exclusion Directive. Spectrum finds out and Colonel White sends Captain Scarlet, Captain Blue, Captain Ocher, Doctor Gold, Destiny Angel and Griggs, Vulcan Industries chief engineer, on a rescue mission.
Colonel White, Captain Blue & Captain Ochre are on there way to a World Summit conference which is being held in a secret location but are attacked by a squad of Mysteronised Vampire Jets. The vampire jets are destroyed by the Angels but Destiney, Harmony and Melody Angels are shot down and land on a beautiful desert island. The Mysterons don't know where the World Summit is and kill and Mysteronise 3 Pirates and give them instructions to get the location where the World Sumit is being held at all costs.
The Mysterons use a Russian Druzynik tank to blow up the town of Ragnarok and reconstruct it and it's residence as Mysteron replicants. Captain Scarlet & Captain Blue are sent to track the Druzynik and enter the town where they end up stumbling onto a Mysteron plan to dig up a meteorite that has been under the town for millions of years. The meteorite contains alien spores that the Mysterons plan to use to wipeout humanity.
Spectrum recives word that a nerve agent is being bought by Mysteron agents in New York. Captain Scarlet manges to get to the nerve agent but finds out the whole thing was a trick. Scarlet talks to his informant who tells him the real target is 'Tranquility’ a lunar biosphere holiday camp on the moon. Unknown to Scarlet the informant is a Mysteron replicant and the whole thing is a trap set up by Captain Black. Aired:
Captain Scarlet is guarding a particle collider at the Laroux Foundation in Louisiana, 2 Mysteron Replicants try to break in but Scarlet takes care of them. In the firefight a contaner tank is hit and releases a gas type substance which the Mysterons take over. An exact copy of Captain Scarlret walks through the gas and shoots the real Captain Scarlet dead. He fake Scarlet desposes of the real Scarlet and makes his way back to Skybase where he can turn himself into whoever he touches and sets out to kill Colonel White and destroy Skybase. Aired:
Captain Black steals a Druzynik and plans to use to destory the Tereshkovo nuclear facility. Captain Scarlet and Captain Blue chase after him in another Druzynik and blow up Black's tank just before he makes it to the nuclear plant. They find Black unconscious with severe injuries. Black is taken to Skybase where he regains consciousness and announces that he has escaped the Mysterons control. He asks Scarlet to return with him to Mars to launch an attack on the Mysteron city. Scarlet tells Colonel White, who is skeptical but Scarlet knows this could be the only chance earth has.
Captain Scarlet and Captain Blue give chase to a mysteron replicant police officer, Rimmer, who has stolen a canister of deadly alien spores. The Mysterons plan to release the spores in the new Stellar City theme park in Phoenix. Rimmer loses the 2 agents and kills and Myseronises a motorcycle gang leader called Brock, who takes over from Rimmer. Scarlet and Blue are unware that Rimmer has passed the spores on to Brock and that they are looking for the worng person. Meanwhile Captain Ocher serches for a stolen Raid Bike, which was taken by a rival motorcycle gang leader named Colt who witnessed Rimmer kill Brock and is the only person who knows who now has the spores.
