In the series premiere of Two for the Road, we meet Nik and Dusty Green, a married couple from Texas living what they call the “New American Dream.” After quitting their jobs and selling all their possessions, they set out to explore the world together. Their first stop? The city at the end of the world: Ushuaia, Argentina, where they jump on board a Russian research ship bound for Antarctica.
Nik and Dusty arrive in Antarctica aboard the Russian research ship Akademik Ioffe. After a stop at a Ukrainian weather outpost to sample homemade Antarctic vodka, Nik and Dusty encounter skyscraper-sized icebergs, fearsome leopard seals and thriving penguin colonies. But bad weather and a painful accident on the ice threaten to derail their hopes of actually setting foot on the White Continent.
Nik and Dusty arrive in Ecuador, where they undertake an epic journey into the heart of Ecuador’s Amazon rain forest in search of a notoriously fearsome people known as the Huaorani. And after meeting their Huaorani hosts and seeing how they live, Nik and Dusty are introduced to a fascinating culture – and an incredible adventure – that few outsiders have ever experienced.
Nik and Dusty arrive in Alaska, where after stopping by a local bar to sample its world-famous beverage, they board an expedition ship that will take them through Alaska’s famed Inside Passage. They encounter some of the area’s amazing wildlife, and discover hidden evidence of long-ago human settlement. And it all ends with an incredible encounter in one of Alaska’s most spectacular spots.
Nik and Dusty travel to Tanzania, where they embark on their first safari through the famed African bush. Their goal? To capture on camera each of Africa’s famed Big Five animals. Along the way they stop in some of Africa’s most spectacular locations, including the Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti National Park. But will a last-minute storm derail their safari and wash away their hopes?
Nik and Dusty make their way to the legendary region of South America known as Patagonia. After conquering one of Argentina’s most spectacular glaciers (and toasting the occasion in a very special way) they cross into Chile. And using a Patagonian eco-lodge as base camp, they set out on one of their biggest challenges ever: a climb to the famous granite towers of Torres del Paine National Park.
Nik and Dusty make their first-ever visit to China. After a lesson in the art of tai chi, they explore the fascinating and historic sites in and around the capital city of Beijing. They learn all about China’s rich and colorful past, and get an eye-opening, first-hand look at China’s turbulent present. And they gain an entirely new perspective on one of the world’s most powerful countries.
Nik and Dusty arrive in the Galapagos Islands. After surviving the madness at the airport (and coming face to face with the islands’ most famous residents) they board a small ship cruise for an incredible journey around the western islands. From swimming with penguins and sharks, to walking alongside some of the planet’s most unique and fascinating wildlife, it’s the adventure of a lifetime!
Nik and Dusty kick off Season 2 in Costa Rica, where Nik faces one of her greatest fears head-on.
Nik and Dusty continue their adventure through Costa Rica with a visit to an animal rescue center, a grueling hike through the pristine and dangerous rain forest, and an epic rafting trip along Costa Rica's most famous river.
Nik and Dusty return stateside for an epic adventure through spectacular Jackson Hole, where they explore the area by snowmobile, go on their first Wyoming wildlife safari, and test their marriage on the ski slopes.
Nik and Dusty head for the Amazon basin in northeastern Peru in search of epic adventure, incredible wildlife, and the birthplace of the mightiest river on Earth.
Nik and Dusty have less than 24 hours to soak up and explore Bangkok.
