Črt se zbudi gol sredi travnika in dojame, da se Trigrad poigrava z njim. Posluša zgodbe domačinov o podedovanem borštu, prepovedanem delu gozda, v katerem izginjajo ljudje. Postavlja vprašanja o svoji mami in ko enkrat sam vstopi v gozd, ne najde več poti iz njega. Po mrzli noči vaščani sprožijo iskalno akcijo.
