Während einer Aufklärungsmission treffen die Männer von der BRAVO Company auf die Musiker einer Band, die im Auftrag der Armee zur Truppenunterhaltung in Vietnam unterwegs war, als ihr Hubschrauber abgeschossen wurde. Für die Jungs der BRAVO Company ist es gar nicht so einfach, mit den Musikern klarzukommen, bis sie sie wieder in Sicherheit gebracht haben: Long John, der Bandleader, entpuppt sich als übler Kriegshetzer, der nur deshalb nicht in der Armee ist, weil seine Epilepsie seinen Einsatz verhindert hat. Collins, ein weiteres Mitglied der Band, ist ein verängstigter, neurotischer junger Mann, während Colby, eine der Tänzerinnen, darunter leidet, dass sie bereits zwei Freunde in Vietnam verloren hat. April (eine andere Tänzerin) ist schließlich die Vernünftigste und charakterlich stärkste der Gruppe. Doch es ist vor allem Long Johns Verhalten, das die Lage eskalieren lässt und dazu führt, dass Collins getötet wird...
A USO band comprised of three female dancers, a sax players, and a singer, completes their performance at an outlying base, and are rushed to a helicopter to be flown to their next destination. None of them get a chance to even change their costumes. The helicopter is shot down and the entire crew is killed. Meanwhile, Bravo company is out on a recon, and Taylor who is on point, thinks he must be going crazy when he sees the girl in hot pants and leather boots. Bravo company takes the girls with them but can't call in for help because the radio's batteries are dead.The USO people make the transition to "soldier" with various degrees of success.
