The Colour of Magic

Auftakt von Terry Pratchetts legendärem Scheibenwelt-Zyklus: Getragen auf dem Rücken von vier Elefanten, die wiederum auf dem Panzer einer Stern-Schildkröte stehen, reist die Scheibenwelt durch das Multiversum ... Der erfolglose Magier Rincewind (Sir David Jason) wird unfreiwillig zum Reiseführer des ersten Scheibenwelt-Touristen Zweiblum (Sean Astin) und seiner intelligenten Holztruhe. Gemeinsam erleben sie einen abenteuerlichen Trip an den Rand der Scheibenwelt, kämpfen gegen Zauberer, entkommen Druiden und reiten auf Drachen. Aber kann Rincewind auch Trymon (Tim Curry), seinen größten Feind besiegen und die Scheibenwelt vor der Zerstörung retten?

Constantly failing at the Unseen University, the wizard Rincewind is given the task by the Patrician of looking after the Discworld's first tourist: Twoflower. The main character is the incompetent and cynical wizard Rincewind, who involuntarily finds himself as a guide to the naive tourist, Twoflower. After they are forced to flee from the city of Ankh-Morpork after a terrible fire they are sent on a journey across the disc which is unknowingly being controlled by a board game being played by the Gods. They meet two barbarians on their way out of morpork, Bravd and Weasel. After their visit to Wyrmberg, the upside-down mountain which is home to dragons that only exist in the imagination, their journey leads them to the country of Krull, perched on the very edge of the Discworld where they are thrown off the edge of the Disc due to the Krullian's urge to find out the gender of Great A'Tuin (the turtle which is swimming through space with four elephants resting the Disc on top).

Basada en el libro del mismo nombre de Terry Pratchett. La historia comienza en la ciudad-estado de Ankh-Morpork a la que llega Dosflores, el primer turista de todo el Mundodisco. Rincewind, un mago renegado e inepto recibe la misión de servirle de guía en un viaje que los llevará por gran parte del Mundodisco. A lo largo del libro asistimos, entre continuas referencias a obras clave del género épico y de fantasía, al contraste entre la cobardía y suspicacia de Rincewind y a la inocencia absoluta de Dosflores, quien, lejos de pasarlo mal, vive cada aventura con ilógico fervor e ilusión.
