カンナギタウンにたどり着いたヒカリたちは、コンテスト出場を前にヒカリの母・アヤコと、昔ライバルだったユリについて電話で話していた。ユリは20年前、コーディネーターとして連戦連勝を重ねていたアヤコが初めて負けた相手で、現在はコーディネーターを引退し、トレーナーとポケモンの両方をスタイリングするトップポケリストとして世界を飛び回っているというのだ。そんなユリの店が近くにあると知ったヒカリは店を訪ねるが、外出中で会うことが出来ないままコンテスト会場へ向かうことに。そして始まるポケモンコンテスト・カンナギ大会！ヒカリは控え室でミミロルと1次審査の出番を待っていた。すると控え室のモニターから1次審査最初のコーディネーターが現れる。なんと、それは20年ぶりの復活！"サクラポケモン"のチェリムを連れたユリだったのだ！
