Ash und seine Freunde landen durch ein Versehen auf dem falschen Schiff und fahren nicht nach Moosbach City zur nächsten Arena sondern nach Bamba Island. Auf dieser Insel ist das Institut für das Schiedsrichter-Training beim Pokémon-Kampf . Unsere Helden lernen Jimmy kennen, der sich dort mit mäßigem Erfolg ausbilden lässt. Jimmy ist ein Mensch mit einem so guten Herzen, dass drei Pokémon sich freiwillig dazu entschieden haben, bei ihm zu bleiben. Auch ein Orden ist ihm ohne Kampf geschenkt worden. Leider hat er bis jetzt noch keinen einzigen Kampf gewonnen, und deshalb hält er sich für einen miserablen Trainer und hat mit dieser Ausbildung hier begonnen. Team Rocket taucht auf und stiehlt die Pokémon von Jimmy. Jimmy setzt sich hundertprozentig für seine Pokemon ein, kann sie aber nicht befreien. Sein Schillok entwickelt sich daraufhin zu Turtok weiter. Jimmy kämpft mit Turtok gegen Team Rocket und gewinnt seinen ersten Kampf. Team Rocket macht seinen üblichen Abgang. Sarina, die Professorin des Instituts, und unsere Freunde machen Jimmy klar, dass er nie ein großer Schiedsrichter werden wird. In ihm steckt ein großer, erstklassiger Pokémon-Trainer. Jimmy ist begeistert, das zu hören, denn im Grunde seines Herzens möchte er Pokémon-Trainer werden. Unsere Freunde setzen ihre Reise nach Moosbach City fort.
With their stay in Lilycove over, Ash and the gang must now catch a ferry to Mossdeep City so Ash can compete in the next Gym. However, in their hurry the gang accidentally catch the wrong boat and end up on Banba Island instead. Deciding to head into the City to find another way to Mossdeep, the gang enounter Jimmy, an up-and-coming Pokemon Referee who owns an Ivysaur, Charmeleon and Wartortle. Jimmy takes them to the Referee School (they must have a school for everything in Hoenn!) where Ash and Brock have a Double Battle. Afterwards Jimmy explains that he started with a Squirtle, and after catching Ivysaur and Charmeleon, he attempted to be a great battler and win Gym Badges in Kanto, but the only one he won was the Cascade Badge from Cerulean... and that was for just cleaning the place for Misty's sister Daisy! While Ash and the gang try to encourage him, Team Rocket plan on steal Jimmy's Pokemon...
Les enfants courent pour attraper le ferry en direction d'Algatia et sautent sur le bateau qui s'apprête à partir, mais ils découvrent qu'il se rend en fait à l'Île Bamba. Une fois arrivés sur l'île, ils rencontrent un jeune Dresseur dénommé Jimmy...
Los chicos toman el barco equivocado y acaban en Isla Bamba. Allí, conocen a Jimmy, un estudiante en el Instituto de Entrenamiento de Jueces de Batallas Pokémon para convertirse en un juez oficial.

I ragazzi prendono al volo il traghetto diretto a Verdeazzupoli, ma una volta a bordo scoprono di aver sbagliato traghetto e di essere diretti all'Isola Bomba. Giunti sull'isola, incontrano un giovane Allenatore di nome Fernando.
３つめのリボンをゲットしたサトシたちは、つぎのジムがあるトクサネシティをめざし、連絡船（れんらくせん）にのりこんだ。ところが、行き先をまちがえてしまい、彼らののった船はバンバ島にたどりついてしまう。そこでサトシたちは、フシギソウやリザードをつれた少年・ジミーと出会った。彼は、ポケモンバトル審判養成学校（しんぱんようせいがっこう）で、審判になるためにべんきょう中だという。養成学校の先生・サリナにたのまれて、サトシとタケシはポケモンのダブルバトルの実習授業（じっしゅうじゅぎょう）をてつだうことになるが…。
