Jenny’s new best friends, Rachel and Keisha, prepare a song and dance performance for the grand opening of Cortez Gymnastics. The big day becomes complicated when Jenny gets a surprise visit from her school’s gymnastics coach, Miss Allister. Joon and Gus get stuck in a lift and pass the time discussing family memories.
Gus invites a reporter to write a magazine article about Cortez Gymnastics. However, when the reporter arrives, he turns out to be one of Gus’s old gymnastics rivals. The Cortez clan must convince the reporter not to write a negative article. Meanwhile, following Olivia’s orders, Cassie and Tori visit Jenny to make sure she doesn’t show up to practice.
The Canton team begins training at Cortez Gymnastics, and Jenny struggles to deal with Olivia invading her space. Jenny finds out she can enter Hillside if she wins at an individual qualifier and asks Gus to train her behind Whitney’s back. Meanwhile, Joon overhears that Gus has a secret and enlists the help of the boys to find out what it is.
Jenny is thrilled when her cousin Sarah comes to visit. Sarah witnesses Olivia’s bullying first hand and, unable to take it, stands up to Olivia on Jenny’s behalf. Meanwhile, Joon, Dace, Kiko and Paul overhear that there are unclaimed lockers in the school. The boys come up with a plan to find the empty lockers and sell them to the highest bidder.
Jenny competes at Hillside against Olivia and the other Canton girls. Olivia finds out that Bops told Jenny the truth about their phone call, while Rachel and Keisha take a bus to try and make it to the competition on time. Back at the loft, Joon, Gus, and Mo figure out how to stream the Hillside competition online.
Jenny hurts herself during her floor routine and must decide if beating Olivia is worth the risk of worsening the injury. Meanwhile, there is discontent among the Canton team as some of the girls begin to question Olivia’s leadership. Back at the loft, Joon brings over Dace, Paul, and Kiko to help fix the TV and cheer Jenny on.
