Jang-hyun regains his memory and recognizes Gil-chae. He finds out the Crown Prince and the Crown Princess have passed away and left a letter for him. Meanwhile, Gakhwa comes all the way to Gil-chae's house in Joseon to find Jang-hyun. Since Joseon interpreters are being flogged to death, Gil-chae decides to let him go to Qing for his safety.
