紋次郎が宿を借りた家の男が襲われた。男は「恋人の身請けをしてほしい」と紋次郎に金塊を託して絶命する。一方、日光御神領の農民に姿を変え、金塊を狙う夫婦の盗人がいた…。
A man in the household where Monjirō takes shelter is attacked, leaving him with a dying wish: to ransom his lover from servitude using a gold bar entrusted to Monjirō. Meanwhile, a married band of thieves, disguised as local farmers, plots to steal the gold for themselves.
