W czasie konferencji prasowej komendanta Parady młody człowiek – Lemuel atakuje dziennikarkę – Paulinę Klejną. Przyznaje, że to on zabił bankiera. Twierdzi też, że jest rzecznikiem, zapowiada wielkie czyny. Zostaje obezwładniony przez Marię i Mandżaro. Dwaj młodzi ludzie, ubrani podobnie jak Lemuel, malują na miejscu zbrodni literę K. Stawiski przy grobie ojca, odsłuchuje z telefonu nagraną w banku rozmowę Mandżaro.
