Adapted from Daphne du Maurier's classic novel, The Scapegoat tells the story of John Standing and Johnny Spence, two very different men who have one thing in common - a face. After a chance encounter, buttoned down John finds himself stepping literally into his charming and charismatic double's shoes, with disastrous consequences. Suddenly thrust into a crumbling world, John soon discovers a distraught wife, a drug-taking mother, a sister who despises him, and an eccentric daughter, not to mention two mistresses! One of whom happens to be married to his younger brother... What could possibly go wrong?
