The Green-Eyed Monster

Aphrodite ist die Schönheit und Eleganz der irdischen "Psyche" ein Dorn im Auge. Sie überredet ihren Sohn Cupido, die betörende Schönheit durch eine vergiftete Pfeilspitze zu hemmen. Der ist jedoch von Psyche fasziniert und verliebt sich in sie. Aphrodite bittet Hercules verzweifelt um Hilfe: Sollten Cupidos Gefühle nämlich von seiner Angebeteten nicht erwidert werden, wird er sich in ein schreckliches Ungeheuer verwandeln.

Aphrodite was consumed but jealousy at the notion that Psyche, a mortal, was as beautiful as she. But her son, Cupid, was in love with Psyche. When Hercules was accidentally shot by Cupid's bow, making him fall in love with the girl, Cupid's jealousy transformed him into a green eyed monster. The change was not permanent, and Psyche began to return Cupid's affections. Finally Aphrodite allowed Psyche to keep her beauty on the condition that she live with Cupid on Mount Olympus. For Hercules, the spell was broken when his thoughts turned to his late wife, the only woman he ever truly loved.

Psyché, la fille d'Holidus, est d'une beauté renversante. Aphrodite est jalouse à l'idée que Psyché, une mortelle, soit aussi belle qu'elle. Son fils, Cupidon, est tombé sous son charme, tout comme Hercule, qui a reçu une flèche d'amour qui ne lui était pas destinée, transformant Cupidon en monstre. Folle de jalousie, Aphrodite, la déesse de l'amour, décide de réagir.

In seguito ad un tranello tesogli da Venere, Cupido colpisce per sbaglio, con una delle sue frecce, Hercules, che si innamora perdutamente di Psyche. Cupido, geloso, si trasforma in un mostro dagli occhi verdi e cattura Psyche portandola nella cattedrale di Helphastus. Hercules, in seguito ad un violento scontro con Cupido, libera Psyche che si trasforma però in un’anziana donna dopo aver bevuto una pozione magica offertale dall’invidiosa Venere. Nonostante Psyche abbia perso la sua bellezza, Cupido le dichiara il suo amore e alla fine, grazie ad Hercules, Psyche torna giovane e può vivere felicemente accanto a Cupido nell’Olimpo.

Afrodita se consumía de celos ante la idea de que Psique, una mortal, fuera tan bella como ella. Pero su hijo, Cupido, estaba enamorado de Psique. Cuando Hércules fue disparado accidentalmente por el arco de Cupido, enamorándose de la muchacha, los celos de Cupido lo transformaron en un monstruo de ojos verdes. El cambio no fue permanente, y Psique comenzó a corresponder al afecto de Cupido. Finalmente, Afrodita permitió a Psique conservar su belleza con la condición de que viviera con Cupido en el monte Olimpo. Para Hércules, el hechizo se rompió cuando sus pensamientos se volvieron hacia su difunta esposa, la única mujer a la que había amado de verdad.
