One day a barber moved into town who gave free haircuts to children, when a bad mouthed child went in to get their hair cut they came out very polite. When it was Tanya and Peragins turn to have there haircut they noticed the barber had a large collection of slugs in a glass bottle and Peragin swallowed one. Peragin went in the chair first to get his hair cut but the barber asked Peragin to open his mouth so he could cut out the part of children's tongue that makes them cheeky. Tanya and Peragin came out the barbers with a very polite attitude and a much smaller tongue

One day they were on a day out in the countryside and they had already had a bike ride and a picnic, so when they were thinking of something to do someone mentioned scrumping (stealing) an apple. When they were eating there apples they scrumed, the farmer caught them and shot the chipper chums dog stinker. The farmer decided the only way to get the apples out of the chipper chums was use his ten tone cider press on the children.

When Thomas did this the man scooped him up with his net and put him in a pit of paper mache. Thomas was turned into a shop manikin for the rest of his life
