Season 1

  • S01E01 Salford/Roaring Twenties

    • July 18, 2021
    • BBC One

Whinnie and Tyler are in sunny Salford meeting seven students who are desperate to give their digs a new lease of life. Elliot, Jemima, Toby, Charlie, Max, Anna and Stan are the ultimate pranksters. They love hanging out together but don’t have the right space for it. The living room lacks personality and is a bit grim. Second-hand red sofas that they all hate, a mouldy jug and a tired old coffee table is the current vibe in the room, and these renters are hoping the queen of thrift can come in and work her magic, all for the cost of a big night out. The housemates want a space where they can drink with their friends, watch movies and chill out. Can Whinnie cater to seven different styles and tastes? The one thing they all agree on is their love of neutral tones, but there’s nothing neutral about Whinnie Williams, so she’s ignoring their ideas and is injecting a bit of colour into their lives. She’s bringing in a Roaring Twenties cinema theme with snakeskin wallpaper and a gold ceiling. There’s a snack station fireplace, a lush teal velvet sofa and cinema seats. And she’s getting the housemates involved too: upcycling a coffee table with gold leaf, dyeing a second hand rug and creating her own version of an expensive gold palm leaf standing lamp. Some of the housemates are struggling to see how Whinnie’s vision will come together, especially as she’s pranking them into thinking all is not as it seems!

  • S01E02 Cardiff/Backstage Glamour

    • July 18, 2021
    • BBC One

Cardiff calls, and Whinnie’s not the only queen in town. She and Tyler meet three housemates: Leon, Callum and Rhys - aka Leonce - Malady Masterwort and Just Becky, drag queens who live together. The trio love living in Cardiff for its great nightlife and the hustle and bustle of living in the capital. They are big personalities, but their living space does not represent them, so they’ve called in the Flat Out Fabulous duo to zhoosh up their space. Digging deep into their spending habits, it turns out our drag queens don’t go on big nights out - they have big weekends. So with a hefty budget in tow, Whinnie comes up with a backstage boutique-inspired living room. Whinnie and Tyler set them the task of silver leafing the fireplace, upcycling an old cabinet and turning a globe into a mirror ball. Can she pull it off with her most demanding of households yet?

  • S01E03 Newcastle/50s Retro Pet Palace

    • July 18, 2021
    • BBC One

Megan, Jen and Fran are a Geordie trio who have bonded over their love of animals. Between them they own two rabbits, a hamster, three rats and a cat called Poodle. The animals brought them together and now having shared for eight months, the trio are ready to ditch the orange walls and tatty sofas in favour of a bright space that they can entertain and hang out in. Their vision is glitzy glamour but fellow animal lover Whinnie has very different ideas and wants to create a 50s retro pet palace. She’s going all out with a mid-century style sideboard, retro wallpaper and even a rat climbing wall. She ropes the housemates in to make a cat bed, crochet chairs and upcycle a second-hand rabbit lamp. Whinnie’s got her work cut out as Tyler is terrified of rats. The girls don’t want a space that looks like their nan's living room. Will the kitsch 50s aesthetic be what they had in mind?

  • S01E04 Cambridge/Boho Maximalist

    • July 18, 2021
    • BBC One

Saski, Jess, Daniella and Tom love living in Cambridge for its amazing architecture and impressive pub scene. What’s not so impressive is their lacklustre living room. The girls all work for the NHS and have had a particularly difficult time during the pandemic, so Whinnie and Tyler hope to redesign their space to give them a room that they can chill in after a long shift, but also use as a party space to let off some steam. Whinnie wants to rejig the layout of the room and go big with a daybed that converts into a dancefloor. She uses tropical wallpaper and wood panelling to create a maximalist boho vibe. The housemates dye old dust sheets to make curtains, turn empty crisp tubes into vases and create a striking wood-panelled fireplace. Whinnie is feeling the pressure as this group are so deserving of a new living space, but can she deliver and give them what they want?

    • BBC One

Flat Out Fabulous is a unique makeover show for Generation Rent. You don’t have to own your own home for our stylish yet thrifty interior designer to come knocking. Whinnie Williams is a design queen who dares to be different, and she believes that if housemates clubbed together and rolled their sleeves up, for just the cost of a big night out, you can boujee up your living room and transform it into a sick pad. Whinnie and her co-host Tyler West are passionate about showing that home renovations don’t have to cost a fortune – you can have that million pound look for less. Scouring vintage shops, online auctions and with loads of smart upcycling and decorating tips, she’s about to share how anyone can do it. Whinnie and Tyler head to Peterborough to meet Jade, Dan and Monica - three housemates that are obsessed with gaming. Monica and Dan are a couple and started living with Jade in November 2019 to save on the rent. Jade spends most of her spare time in her room playing video games but they’d love a space where they can all hang out and game together. Monica loves glitter and faux fur so she’s confident Whinnie will understand her style but Dan’s not convinced. Having never gamed in her life, he’s worried that Whinnie won’t be on the same page as him. Whinnie and Tyler are planning concrete walls, neon wall art and a colour pop ceiling light. The housemates are going to help paint the walls, build a cabinet for a drinks fridge and Whinnie’s going to upcyle their coffee table and build a neon jungle underneath it. Will Whinnie’s idea of an industrial neon dream tick their boxes?
