The Long Goodbye

Sue Ellen denkt nicht daran, sich mit J.R. zu versöhnen. Ganz anders sieht es in der Beziehung von Bobby und Pam aus: Die beiden wollen einen Neuanfang wagen. Als J.R. davon Wind bekommt, stattet er seiner Schwägerin einen unangenehmen Besuch ab.

Sue Ellen tells J.R. she wants separate bedrooms and separate lives. Bobby tells Pam the battle for Ewing Oil is over and he wants her back at the ranch. Mickey tells Lucy at the hospital that when he gets out, he wants to marry her. Katherine is shocked to learn that Pam is seeing Bobby again. Clayton tells Bobby that Miss Ellie wants him to look after Southfork till she gets back. Cliff is angry when he learns of Pam's reconciliation with Bobby. Mickey learns that he is permanently paralysed, J.R. and Katherine plot to prevent Bobby and Pam from getting back together. Mark tells Pam that he will not wait much longer for her to decide about marriage. J.R. threatens Pam to prevent the reconciliation with Bobby.

Bien que Bobby lui explique que la bagarre entre son frère et lui est finie, Pam refuse de revivre avec lui car il a trop changé. Ils décident cependant de se retrouver pour diner. Sue Ellen décide de faire chambre à part avec J.R.. Mike, immobilisé sur son lit d'hôpital, semble confiant en son avenir avec Lucy, mais le diagnostic des médecins qui pensent qu'il restera paralysé, le décourage. Le diner entre Bobby et Pam ne plaît ni à Katherine qui reproche à J.R. d'arrêter la bagarre pour les Pétroles Ewing, ni à Cliff qui préfèrerait avoir Mark Graison comme beau-frère. De son côté, Mark supporte mal cette situation. J.R. menace Pam de tout faire pour détruire Bobby et Cliff, si elle revient vivre avec son mari.
