Die Senatswahl steht bevor. Cliff Barnes, der erklärte Gegner der Ewings, hat gute Chancen, die Wahl zu gewinnen. J.R. sucht fieberhaft nach einem dunklen Fleck in Cliffs Vergangenheit. Eine unbedachte Äußerung Pams bringt ihn auf eine Idee.
Pam finds herself once again in the middle, between her brother and the Ewing family. Cliff Barnes is in a race for state senator, and the Ewings, especially J.R, are not happy. Pam puts her full support behind Cliff, but is tricked by J.R into giving damaging information away.
Cliff Barnes mène campagne pour se faire élire sénateur, ce qui met Pamela dans une situation embarrassante. Elle décide cependant d'appuyer Cliff contre le candidat soutenu par le clan Ewing. Lors d'un dîner, elle donne accidentellement à J.R. une information sur le passé de Cliff. Celui-ci a jadis aidé financièrement une de ses amies à avorter et elle en est morte. Cliff perd les élections et en veut à Pam quand il comprend qu'elle est à l'origine de la fuite. Bobby parvient à les réconcilier.
