The Road to Damascus

Sofie hat Alpträume, in denen ihr die tote Apollonia erscheint. Verängstigt bittet sie Ben, mit ihr fortzugehen. Doch er will mit dem Zirkus weiterziehen, um seinen Vater Henry Scudder zu finden. Ben ahnt nicht, dass ihm der Killer Stroud erneut einen Schritt voraus ist. In Mintern will Justin seiner Gemeinde enthüllen, wer für den Tod der Waisenkinder verantwortlich ist.

On the road to Damascus, Nebraska, Samson and the troupe stop to help when they run into a rival troupe that has fallen on hard times. In Mintern, Dolan tries to help Iris and Justin find a solution to their legal problems while Iris is surprised when she learns of Justin's real plan: to frame Dolan for the ministry fire. Back at Carnivale, Rita Sue learns that Stumpy lost all of their money with gambling while he and Jonesy come to blows over Rita Sue. Ben and Sofie decide to explore their growing romantic relationship with sex when she tells him that she intends to leaves Carnivale and wants him to come with her. Also, Ruthie appears to have a psychic connection with Lotz when she briefly speaks in his voice to Lila. Also, Ben finally decides to go on ahead towards Damascus when he learns from Sampson about Stroud who's on Scudder's tail.

In Mintern probeert Dolan Iris en Justin te helpen een oplossing te vinden voor hun juridische problemen, terwijl Iris verrast is wanneer ze hoort over het echte plan van Justin: Dolan de schuld van de brand in de schoenen schuiven. Rita Sue ontdekt dat Stumpy al hun geld heeft verloren met gokken. Ben en Sofie besluiten hun groeiende romantische relatie verder te zetten en ze vertelt hem dat ze van plan is om Carnivale te verlaten en wil dat hij met haar meekomt. Ruthie lijkt een psychische band te hebben met Lodz wanneer met zijn stem tot Lila spreekt.

El circo se dirige hacia Damascus, tras tener Ben una visión de dónde puede estar su padre. En mitad del camino se encuentran con otro Circo y se deciden a parar y pasar la noche con ellos. En la fiesta nocturna Ben y Sofie acaban compartiendo confidencias y haciendo el amor. Mientras tanto, Varlyn Stroud ha llegado al circo y está haciendo preguntas sobre un muchacho de apellido Scudder..En Minturn, el hermano Justin toma una decisión y parece que vaya a hacer que su hermana se entregue, pero en el último momento, con la policía y el fiscal delante, hace que Tommy Dolan se declare culpable del incendio.

Truppen bryter bröd med en annan karneval, och Samson gör upp med Sabrina, en gammal vän. Iris och Justin förbereder sin svåraste predikan hittills. Stumpy grips av panik när Rita Sue ger sig av på en välgörenhetsmission.
