Die Geschwister Sohail und Nasima, Kinder einer pakistanischen Einwandererfamilie, sind in Bradford, Nordengland, geboren und aufgewachsen. Obwohl ihre Eltern sie muslimisch erzogen haben, führen Bruder und Schwester ein modernes Leben. Als sich jedoch durch die Anti-Terror-Gesetze und eine islamfeindliche Grundhaltung der Briten das Klima in Großbritannien verschärft, stehen beide vor der Frage: Bin ich Brite oder Moslem?

Sohail is an ambitious law undergraduate who signs up with MI5 and, eager to play a part in protecting British security, begins an investigation into a terrorist cell. His sister Nasima is a medical student in Leeds who becomes increasingly alienated and angered by Britain's foreign and domestic policy after witnessing at first hand the relentless targeting of her Muslim neighbours and peers. With action set in Pakistan, Eastern Europe, London and Leeds, both feature-length episodes detail a tragic sequence of events from two distinct perspectives. At the heart of this thought-provoking drama is a revealing examination of British Muslim life under current anti-terror legislation. Britz ultimately asks whether the laws we think are making us safer, are actually putting us in greater danger.

Sohail et sa petite sœur Nasima ont grandi à Bradford, en Angleterre, où leurs parents pakistanais ont émigré avant leur naissance. Chacun tente de trouver son chemin entre héritage familial et appartenance à l'Occident. Le premier poursuit des études de droit à Londres et craint par-dessus tout de s'enfermer dans sa "communauté". La seconde, restée à Bradford pour un cursus de médecine, cache à sa famille son histoire d'amour avec Jude, un jeune Noir non musulman. Brillants et idéalistes, proches l'un de l'autre, le frère et la sœur ont réagi différemment aux attentats du 7 juillet 2005, survenus quelques mois plus tôt à Londres, puis au renforcement des lois d'exception qui a touché de plein fouet leur entourage. Sohail, sans rien en dire, a décidé d'entrer dans les services secrets, le MI5, pour combattre le terrorisme. "Nas", elle, manifeste avec ardeur contre Tony Blair, le "caniche de Bush", et signe des pétitions sur Internet. Mais le suicide de sa meilleure amie, suite à une incarcération arbitraire et à une mise au secret, va la faire basculer vers l'extrémisme.
