Da sich Yomi auch in der Schule immer seltsamer verhält, beginnt Mato sich Sorgen zu machen. Und dann bemerkt sie auch noch, dass sich niemand an ihre Kindheitsfreundin Yuu zu erinnern scheint. Als sie diese schließlich findet, erfährt sie die Wahrheit hinter ihren Träumen von den Kämpfen in der anderen Welt. Um Mato und Yomi zu helfen, schickt Yuu Matos Bewusstsein in den Körper von Black Rock Shooter. Aber das geht leider schief und Mato kann nicht mehr zurückkehren.
As Black Rock Shooter fights against a huge army under Dead Master's control, Yomi behaves strangely at school, cutting her hair in class, causing Mato to become concerned, even lashing out at Kagari. As Yuu becomes cautious of Saya's actions, Mato sees the battle between Black Rock Shooter and Dead Master in her sleep. As Mato visits Saya the next day, she tries to strangle her, leaving her confounded. After seeing the painting Yomi drew of her, Mato comes to realise that is because of her that Yomi is suffering. She soon discovers that noone in the basketball club remembers Yuu, soon finding her own memories of her to be a lie. Yuu then appears before her, telling her that the other world in her dreams is real. She explains how the people in the other world represent the sorrow upon their real world counterparts, and if they are killed, the person forgets about their attachments that caused them that grief, meaning if Dead Master is killed, Yomi would forget all about her. Offering Mato the chance to save Yomi without resorting to fighting, Yuu puts her into a deep sleep, sending her mind into that of Black Rock Shooter, only to find she had just killed Dead Master. The shock of this causes Black Rock Shooter's blazing blue eye to become purple, becoming Insane Black Rock Shooter.
Mentre Black Rock Shooter combatte contro un enorme esercito sotto il controllo di Dead Master, Yomi si comporta in maniera strana a scuola, tagliando i capelli in classe, facendo preoccupare Mato, persino scagliandosi contro Kagari. Mentre Yu diventa cauto nei confronti delle azioni di Saya, Mato vede la battaglia tra Black Rock Shooter e Dead Master nel sonno. Mentre il Mato fa visita a Saya il giorno successivo, cerca di strangolarla, lasciandola confusa. Dopo aver visto il dipinto che Yomi ha disegnato di lei, Mato si rende conto che è a causa sua che Yomi sta soffrendo. Presto scopre che nessuno nella squadra di basket ricorda Yuu, scoprendo presto che i suoi ricordi di lei sono una bugia. Yuu appare quindi davanti a lei, dicendole che l'altro mondo nei suoi sogni è reale. Spiega come le persone nell'altro mondo rappresentano il dolore per le loro controparti del mondo reale, e se vengono uccise, la persona dimentica i loro attaccamenti che hanno causato loro quel dolore, nel senso che se il Mastro Morto viene ucciso, Yomi si dimenticherà di lei. Offrendo a Mato la possibilità di salvare Yomi senza ricorrere ai combattimenti, Yuu la mette in un sonno profondo, mandando la sua mente in quella di Black Rock Shooter, solo per scoprire che aveva appena ucciso Dead Master. Lo shock di questo fa sì che l'ardente occhio blu di Black Rock Shooter diventi viola, diventando Insane Black Rock Shooter.
マトとユウの仲の良さに疎外感を感じていたヨミは、カガリにも拒絶されたことによって完全に壊れてしまう。そんなヨミに加えて、カガリもアラタもどこか様子がおかしい。途方に暮れるマトはスクールカウンセラー・サヤのところへ行く。しかし、サヤの不気味な言動に不安を覚えたマトは、思わず相談室を飛び出す。更にそんなマトに追い打ちをかけるかのよう出来事が･･･。その頃、裏世界ではブラックロックシューターとデッドマスターが血みどろの戦いを繰り広げていた。
Como Negro Rock Shooter lucha contra un gran ejército bajo el control del amo muerto, Yomi comporta de forma extraña en la escuela, cortando el pelo en la clase, haciendo que Mato a preocuparse, incluso atacando a Kagari-. Como Yū convierte cautelosa de las acciones de Saya, Mato ve la batalla entre el Negro Rock Shooter y Dead Master en su sueño.
