David a Clare mají natočit dokument jedné skupině spolubydlících. Ti to odmítnou a tak si na ně všichni musí hrát. Při natáčení vyjde najevo, že David pořád miluje Donnu a Clare zase Brandona. Mel se vrácí k Jackii. Dylan s Charliem pracují na scénáři filmu. Dylan začíná opět chodit s Valerií. Jesse se Andree přiznává, že jí byl nevěrný. David a Clare se rozcházejí.
Im Rahmen eines Uni-Projektes wollen David und Clare eine Dokumentation über Zimmergenossen drehen. Steve erfährt, dass Celeste mittlerweile verlobt ist und fällt deswegen in Depressionen. Donna ist von der versuchten Vergewaltigung immer noch traumatisiert. Doch David, der sie besucht, kann sie ablenken. Zwischen den beiden kommt es zu einem Kuss.
As a class project, David and Clare plan to film a documentary about an eclectic group of roommates. When the subjects back out, David and Clare decide to impersonate them, with help from Steve, Donna, Kelly and Brandon. A number of incidents cause the group to break character. Steve becomes depressed after learning that Celeste is engaged (not to the high school sweetheart she chose over Steve, but to an airman she just met). David consoles Donna, who is still traumatized by the rape attempt, and they end up kissing. Clare witnesses this on a monitor and responds by making a pass at Steve. Kelly gets drunk from spiked watermelon. She finds out that Jackie and Mel are moving in together and launches into a tirade about cheating men. This prompts the group to conduct a discussion about lost loves, in which David admits that he still loves Donna. David and Clare get into a spat while editing the video and decide to break up. Andrea and Jesse briefly share bliss. She tries to confess her affair, but he stuns her by admitting to a one-night stand. Valerie runs out of money and moves back in with the Walshes. She and Dylan are reunited after he and Charley see her at a movie premiere at the club. Music: 'Eight Miles High' by the Byrds, 'Dreams' by the Cranberries.

Per un esame David e Clare devono girare un documentario ma quando i veri attori non si presentano, chiedono l’aiuto di Brandon, Kelly, Steve e Donna: durante le riprese, alcune confessioni inaspettate rischiano di cambiare molte cose. Jesse confessa ad Andrea la sua infedeltà e anche Andrea prova a dirgli la verità su Peter. Valerie torna a vivere nella casa dei Walsh.
Brandon, Kelly, Donna y Steve aparecen en el proyecto cinematográfico de no ficción de Clare y David, saliendo a la luz verdades de unos y otros. Valerie vuelve a mudarse a casa de los Walsh tras ser desalojada de su suite del hotel. Mientras, Dylan ayuda a Charlie con el guion de la película, y aún llega más ayuda de Valerie, quien persigue incesantemente a Dylan. Tras visitar a un terapeuta, Andrea contempla contarle a Jesse lo de su aventura. Pero ella no está preparada para la confesión que el propio Jesse tiene para ella.
