New officer, Karen Betts, starts at Larkhall and reveals that she and Fenner have history. Helen is torn between duty and desire as she battles to hide her true feelings from Nikki, when she has no option but to transfer her to another prison after she slaps Dominic. Fenner discovers Shell's deceit and his anger knows no bounds but his wife wants him gone.
New officer, Di Barker, arrives from D-Wing as Jim's replacement. Denny gets the chance to visit her mum on the outside and her dreams for their future are shattered and Yvonne is left to comfort her. Sylvia helps Jim clear his name and he returns to G Wing with Shell thinking they will get back together, but for now it's no more Mr. Nice Guy. Yvonne and Fenner make a deal.
Mad Tessa, a nightmare from the past, returns to haunt Karen, and only Fenner can save her. New inmate Barbara Hunt goes through hell in a case of mistaken identity. Zandra complains of headaches and collapses, only Crystal believes it is not drug related. Yvonne keeps up her end of the bargain, but does Fenner?
Renee attacks Yvonne in the bathroom but Nikki saves Yvonne before she does any real damage. Crystal, Shell, Denny, Shaz, Yvonne, Nikki, The Julies have all witnessed Renee's methods of dealing with people so everyone is a suspect when Renee bites the dust. Helen has some fantastic news for Nikki. Fenner's wife frees him to pursue Karen.
Yvonne is left heartbroken when, Charlie, leaves her. Nikki risks it all for one night with Helen. Jim blows it with Karen and ends up at Shell's mercy. Hollamby has an 'ecstatic' anniversary party thanks to an illegal gift from the girls on G-Wing. Crystal is released but Josh is not waiting at the gate.
Fenner dies but is resuscitated and transferred to the hospital. Karen reveals that Dominic is not returning to the prison service. Sylvia is determined to make Shell suffer for her attack on Fenner and gets her moved to a psychiatric ward. "Mad" Tessa, Shell's old adversary, is ready and waiting to do the rest and Shell meets "Podger" Pam. Sylvia proposes a strike when Shell is returned to G-Wing.
Shell is returned to G-Wing but is confined to her cell. Julie S is out of prison on a tag and meets her old flame, Trevor. The women jump at the chance to run the wing themselves, when the strike takes place and the officers are on "sick leave", things are going swimmingly - until a large knife goes missing.
Tensions mount as "Podger" Pam arrives on G-Wing and the new doctor, Dr. Waugh, impresses Helen, who is upset with Nikki when she lashes out following her spontaneous cell fire. Josh begins his stint as a trainee PO under the ever-watchful eye of Di, who claims to have just come out of a relationship but starts a new obsession with Josh.
A fly-on-the-wall TV documentary crew, Kicking Productions, arrived at HMP Larkhall to make a series, creating havoc in the process. Jim Fenner wanted Shell Dockley out of Larkhall for good, and so was willing to go to any lengths to get rid of her...even helping her to escape! Helen told Nikki about Jim's assault on her - meaning that Jim now had yet another enemy on G Wing. Buki's tough girl image disappeared when she was found bleeding in her cell after a violent display of self-harm - and it was all caught on camera by the documentary crew, along with shocking revelations about her childhood. Shell, Denny and Shaz succeeded in their attempt to escape using the keys and money that Jim had left them - unfortunately for Shaz, she sprained her ankle and so had to be left behind...Sylvia realised numbers were down and so began frantically searching...to no avail!
Crystal is on hunger strike to protest against her incorrect drugs test results and it seems that only new girl Charlotte can save her. Di begins to abuse her mother when Josh confronts her about her deceit. Di then schemes to stop Josh and Crystal's wedding in a small ceremony in the prison chapel. Also, a new group of girls arrive, calling themselves the Peckham Boot Gang.
The Peckham Boot Gang arrive on G-Wing and stir up trouble. Al McKenzie begins bully Shaz. When Nigerian prisoner Femi is bullied by the officers, Nikki organises a sit-in to help. But with the Peckham Boot Gang involved, things look like getting out of hand, and a riot takes place on G-Wing. Plus, the Peckham Boot Gang reveals their plan to get rid of Yvonne, after Yvonne batters Al.
Fenner proposes to Karen and gets cosy with Maxi. The Peckham Boot Gang make up with Virginia but all is not what it seems. Fenner's campaign against Helen hots up and Nikki's appeal gives him the ideal outlet for his schemes. Crystal announces a miracle, but even the divine cannot help Yvonne who is accused of murder.
Yvonne's escape attempt is thwarted by Karen. New Governor, Neil Grayling, arrives at Larkhall and is determined to make his mark. He is unimpressed with Karen and starts to look for a new Wing Governor - surely not Fenner? Di meets new P.O Barry Pearce but he is not so nice while Fenner and Karen split up.
Fenner is Governor again and Karen is just a P.O. Fenner is horrified to learn that Yvonne didn't murder Virginia and realising the real culprit forces him and Yvonne into an uneasy alliance. Barry and Di's wedding is cancelled with help from the women but Barry reacts and Di ends up with a broken hand.
Denny arrives back on G-Wing, with two new inmates, Cassie Tyler and Roisin Connor. Not only is Shaz blanking her, she's also disappointed to learn that she still has her old enemy Sylvia to contend with. But Denny undergoes a makeover to get close to Al, just to help Yvonne catch Virginia's murderer. Barry turns very nasty when the women interfere with his relationship with Di again but this time Di will not back him up.
Yvonne and Maxi come to blows and Tina helps Yvonne in the fight when Virginia's killer is revealed. Denny and Shaz are back together and true to form. Neil continues to make himself unpopular - does he really have the prisoners' interests at heart or is this a personal vendetta against Karen? Roisin finds it hard to deal with prison life, but Cassie is living the life. Neil sets his sights on Fenner. Buki muscles in on Shaz and Denny's escape plan but she is left in the tunnel and it later collapses on her.
Buki can no longer cope with the bullying and harms herself, although more seriously than she intended. Outraged, Yvonne wants to see that justice is done. Di and Neil grow closer. The women are not happy with Tina and Noreen's service. Roisin begins to take drugs to block out the pain of prison. Shaz and Denny fall out but Maxi is there to help Shaz, but she really wants to frame Shaz for Virginia's murder.
Yvonne and Maxi come to blows resulting in drastic consequences. G-Wing's tiniest inmate arrives when Crystal gives birth to baby Zandra on the floor of her cell. Fenner breaks down when the officers do not co-operate with him. Di sets her sights on Neil, despite Fenner's warnings. Buki wants to be on the MBU with Crystal and Zandra but when a baby goes missing, Buki reveals the truth, as to why she wants to be with babies, to Mark. Karen goes to see Fenner and he gets heavy with her.
Fenner is back in uniform and Neil is in dire need of a new governor. Karen turns down the job which means that there is only one candidate left - Sylvia. Emotions flare following Baxter's funeral. Shaz and Al plan to fight but Maxi wants to finish Shaz. The fight goes ahead with brutal, ultimately, tragic consequences.
Sylvia now has a dead body on her hands but an inspection team are also visiting the prison. Tina decides to clear the air with Maxi, who is nowehere to be found. Cassie and Roisin's relationship deteriorates further especially when Cassie has her eyes on Yvonne. Roisin begins to use drugs as a way of relieving her pain. Yvonne is delighted when her estranged son visits her. Plus, Babs and Henry grow closer, but Henry grasses on the women.
The departure of Shaz has left a vacant cell on G-Wing, though it is immediately filled by a mystery American blonde, Snowball Merriman, who catches Fenner's eye. But Yvonne recognises her as does Karen recognise Yvonne's son. Denny spends her birthday down the block when she attacks Sylvia, upon discovering Shaz is gone. Neil orders Sylvia to Jesse, for Denny's sake. Di attempts to seduce Neil. The Julies go to court following their assault on Damien, with Rhiannon having no intention of helping her mother or aunty.
Rhiannon tries to make amends with her mother and aunty when they are sentenced to 8 years. Denny is thrilled when her mother is found, but her excitement is short-lived. Di has a suggestion for Neil, giving her companionship she craves and Neil an ideal means of staying in the closet. Roisin goes back on the drugs. Crystal is released and Mark is transferred to another prison, but Mark has a word with Fenner before leaving.
Yvonne and Fenner both have different reasons to be concerned about Karen's new relationship. Snowball continues to wrap everyone on G-Wing around her little finger and goes ahead with her escape plan. Di and Neil go on their hen and stag nights but Neil only invites Fenner and slips something into his drink.
G-Wing's open day goes ahead - but not according to plan. Shaz and Denny have their interprison visit and Shaz has brought some mushrooms with her. Yvonne gets a male escort to visit her during the open day and finds out about Snowball's escape plan. Neil and the inmates' lives hang in the balance when Snowball's escape plan finally detonates.
Fenner joins some of his P.O mates on a lads' weekend in Amsterdam. They're all very taken with erotic dancer, Nikki, until they realise that her face is uncomfortably familiar. Denny vows to get revenge on Snowball. Babs tries to adjust to being deaf. Al and Tina plot to get a pardon like Cassie and Roisin. Sylvia and Bobby's lives is turned upside down when they are declared bankrupt. Snowball continues to try to escape to be with Richie.
Shell arrives back on G-Wing and, with Denny, plan revenge on Snowball for Shaz's death. Fenner also has plans for Shell. Snowball retrieves her gun from its hiding place at Shaz's memorial and starts to put her escape plan into action, with the unwilling help of Karen. Bobby goes to an unsuccessful interview at Larkhall, resulting in his breakdown. Di is harassed by "Gnasher", an alias that Al and Tina are using. Babs gets her hearing back and reveals Snowball's plans to Yvonne, who makes plans of her own to stop Snowball and Richie.
Sylvia is left distraught by Bobby's actions. The Costa Cons, Phyl Oswyn and Bev Tull, arrive at Larkhall with a suitcase full of gin bottles and are immediately disgusted by the squalid conditions on G-Wing. Snowball's escape backfires and Richie is shot. Di catches Tina and Al in the middle of their crazy plan and puts a stop to it. Also, Buki returns to G-Wing, while Shell is the only one who is not convinced by the Costa Cons. Plus, Snowball poisons herself.
Shell goes into labour. After being forced to fend off Colin Hedges' advances, Shell threatens to blow the whistle on Fenner and his pimping scheme, a decision which ultimately brings about disaster. Sylvia becomes the Costa Cons' latest sucker. Di uses "Gnasher" to get at Neil. The privatisation team arrive and upset the prisoners and some officers alike. Snowball makes another attempt to see Richie.
Snowball attempts to convince Neil that she has changed. Di plans to get pregnant, with the help of Neil's boyfriend. One of Phyl and Bev's many business ventures comes to light when Colin discovers the drugs stash hidden behind their mirror, but given his own little habit, it's unlikely that he'll be shopping them. Also, the Costa Cons' have another plan for booze, in the garden.
Fenner plans to set up Yvonne but Colin puts a stop to it. The presence of the media and a celebrity guest at HMP Larkhall gives the women a perfect opportunity to make a very public protest about the prison's forthcoming privatisation. Phyl and Bev are transferred to an open prison. Di's plans for pregnancy are a success. Snowball and Richie make a pact to die together but only one of them dies.
Karen persuades Neil to take Snowball out of solitary confinement in the hope that it will lift her spirits, but all Snowball wants is to be reunited with Richie. Yvonne is roped into protecting Snowball but she helps her to be with Richie. Fenner becomes Tina's knight in shining armour when he moves her out of the Four Bed Dorm away from nasty Al and Buki. Di's infidelity is revealed when she and Neil are tested for syphilis.
Snowball's suicide note makes some serious allegations against Fenner, which in light of the accusations made against him by Karen and Helen could get him into serious trouble. Di has her pregnancy terminated but doesn't inform Neil or Tony. Fenner and Tina plan to set up Yvonne. Karen is sacked by Neil.
Karen and Neil come to a compromise. Di and Neil reveal their split, in which Neil outs himself, and plans for surrogacy. A familiar face is welcomed back to Larkhall as old-timer Noreen Biggs arrives back on G-Wing. Unfortunately, she won't be enjoying Her Majesty's for long as she hasn't got long to live. Noreen tries to talk Tina round that Fenner is using her but Yvonne makes her see the light.
Julie S returns to Larkhall. Phyl and Bev are transferred back to Larkhall. Denny shows off her talent for art. Legal proceedings begin for Al, who is up for life for murdering Virginia. Henry quits and plans to marry Babs. Fenner breaks into Karen's flat and sees all of the evidence she's amassed against him. Deciding he must take action, he sneaks out with her car keys, coat and a bottle of alcohol. Karen is arrested the following morning.
Di becomes Wing Governor. Yvonne plans to get rid of Fenner for good. Bev and Phyl forge some of Denny's artwork. Buki finally meets her son, Lennox, with the help of Christopher Biggins. Di and Fenner go on a date and get intimate. New inmate, lifer Kris Yates arrives at Larkhall and makes a big impression on everyone, so much so that new officer Selena Geeson requests that she be Kris' personal officer.
Di fakes a miscarriage. Denny's planned art exhibition suffers a setback as a result of Phyl and Bev's eye on the bigger picture and the money they will squeeze out of their protege. Kris reveals she has an escape plan but Yvonne does not want to be a part of it. Yvonne's plan to fix Fenner goes into effect.
Babs and Henry get married but Henry's brother leaves when he objects. Buki is looking forward to her release and Denny is transferred to an open prisoner. Yvonne gives into Kris and makes a bid for freedom by slipping into the cavernous depths of the prison, but Fenner is hot on her heels, intent on sorting her out once and for all, and in the most horrific manner imaginable.
The new Wing Governor, Frances Myers decides it is the right time to make herself known to the women of G-Wing, all of whom know her as inmate Frances Allen. The police investigate Yvonne's death and all fingers point to Fenner, who begins to crack under pressure. New inmate Darlene Cake makes herself noticed at Larkhall.
Fenner is still reeling with guilt over Yvonne's death, and is convinced that her daughter is out for revenge, but real danger may be a lot closer than he realises. Frances begins to crack down on drugs when Bev takes an overdose and starts a war with Phyl after slapping her. Fenner finally breaks down.
A Muslim woman convicted of murdering a relative maintains that she is innocent and climbs up on the roof of G-Wing to continue her protest, along with the Julies, Tina and Darlene. But tragedy strikes when one of them fall from the roof top. Fenner returns to Larkhall to settle the score with Kris, and he is sectioned. Plus, Phyl throws a glass of water over Sylvia in anger.
An unrepentant Natalie Buxton returns to Larkhall and is not a popular prisoner. Having been convicted of child prostitution, she has a lot to prove if she is going to survive on G-Wing. Frances and Colin grow closer but Colin wants more than just sex, although Frances has other plans. When Natalie confesses to being a sex trafficker, Frances slaps her in her office.
Glamour hits Larkhall in the form of footballers' wife Tanya Turner when she arrives at the prison in a sweatbox. Jailed for possession of class A-drugs, Tanya has got a tough time ahead of her on G-Wing. But Tanya is on a mission to help a friend, Rick Revoir, get back at Darlene. The whole of G-Wing come down with poisoning but only Tina knows why. Also, Al dies in this episode after being poisoned.
G-Wing is gripped with fear that the poisoner may strike again. The women are desperate to work out who is responsible and it isn't long before all eyes fall on Tanya. When Tina reveals it is her, as she gave out the hootch, Phyl and Bev are desperate to keep out of the frame and out of Natalie's way when she gets nasty. Frances is struck down with the illness, when she drinks a nasty cup of coffee. Fenner returns to G-Wing.
Frances gets deep into trouble when she is suddenly thrown into a violent and illegal plan to get to Tanya from the outside. Could her sex games have at last got her into some very serious trouble? Kris and Natalie grow closer and Colin leaves to clear his head but only Julie S knows why. The Julies celebrate their birthday.
Julie J is upset that Colin has gone and Julie S tells her why. Julie S goes for another scan and things start to look up. Selena returns with news about Kris' sister, Milly, and Natalie is determined to ruin Kris and Selena's relationship. Neil is worried about the impending tribunal for sexual misconduct and wonders if his job and reputation will survive. Fenner has his own concerns. Could Di have jeopardised his case?
Tina gets close with a worksman. Selena is in deep trouble. Frances has seen Fenner's evidence and knows that she and Kris used to live with each other, and when a body is found in the canal things look set to get even worse. Karen and Neil close in on Fenner when CCTV footage shows Fenner running from the scene of the accident.
Tina believes she is pregnant and asks Phyl and Bev to talk to the spirits. Tina and Darlene are then conned by Phyl and Bev into believing that Natalie made the rhubarb hooch that poisoned several inmates and killed Al McKenzie. Darlene then attacks Natalie and a huge catfight strikes G-Wing, although Natalie gets the upper hand and beats Darlene. Natalie, Phyl and Bev then team up to fool Darlene, with the help of voodoo. Selena and Kris spend a night together, under the condition that Kris turns herself in. Kris later flees the hotel to protest in London. Fenner is in seventh heaven as he and Di tie the knot, but when he sees Neil and Karen entering the church clutching a big envelope, he goes cold with panic. Is this the end of the road for him?
Fenner discovers that life behind bars is no picnic for a former PO when he finds himself on the receiving end of some very rough justice from his fellow inmates. Natalie takes over as Top Dog and starts a protection racket with the help of Darlene. New arrivals, Janine Nebeski and Arun Parmar, arrive on G-Wing and suffer at the hands on Natalie. The Julies give Bev a makeover. Sylvia falls victim of voodoo.
Fenner returns to Larkhall as the new Governor of G-Wing. Sylvia receives some unexpected and fortuitous news that soon has her jumping for joy. On overhearing the rumours of her windfall, greedy Dr. Malcolm Nicholson suddenly finds her irresistible. The Julies are sacked from the servary and replaced by Phyl and Bev.
Outside the gates of Larkhall, a swarm of press await the arrival of 18-year-old Laura Canning, who's been convicted of brutally stabbing her mother to death. Fenner has a vesectomy, telling Di he is having counseling after being raped. Di returns to Larkhall and warns Natalie to watch her back. Darlene pays the price for making thoughtless remarks about Julie S's breast cancer.
When an elderly nun called Sister Thomas Moore arrives at Larkhall, Natalie takes it upon herself to show her that the habit offers no protection from the evil on G-Wing and beats her up. A solicitor reveals the condition to Sylvia on her aunt's will. Di plants scissors in Natalie's cell. Arun hides away from the wing to keep her secret hidden.
A new tough inmate, Pat Kerrigan is transferred to Larkhall from another prison and she's more than a match for Natalie. However, the focus of Pat's attention is the saintly Sister Thomas Moore. Sylvia fears that she could lose Malcolm if she doesn't tell him the truth about her aunt's will, they go ahead with the wedding. Neil has sex with Sylvia's son Bobby Darren. Natalie reveals Arun's secret.
Arun is suicidal. The thought of being transferred to a men's prison is intolerable. Pat is furious that Natalie's taunts have driven Arun to despair and steps in to defend her. Di visits the MBU and convinces a mother, Sheena Williams, to give her baby to her. The salon is closed and the Julies return to the servary.
Di and Fenner's marriage is over when he discovers her deceit. Bev is quick to the rescue when sleazy delivery man, Frank, attempts to rape Phyl. Her daring actions prove doubly fortunate when they suddenly realise that they are staring freedom in the face. They kidnap Tina and tie her in the back of the delivery van as she witnessed Bev hit Frank. They also face Sylvia and Malcolm when they arrive in Spain. They find Malcolm getting ready to inject Sylvia with a deadly substance, so Phyl shoots Malcolm with a gun she found, killing him.
It looks like Fenner is about to get his comeuppance. He's the only PO present in the hanging cell when the girls of G-Wing go to lay flowers in memory of Yvonne - will a prisoner or a fellow screw get their revenge on evil Fenner? Bev returns to Larkhall and is attacked by Natalie, while Phyl remains on the run.
The atmosphere at Larkhall is euphoric - Jim Fenner is dead. However the arrival of new Governor of Larkhall, Joy Masterton, soon spoils the mood. She's ex-army, hard as nails, and set on a big shake up. Phyl is returned to Larkhall and faces the wrath of Joy. Natalie impresses Joy and could finally get her weekend release. The entire wing own up to Fenner's murder, though the police are convinced it's Di.
Having been charged with Fenner's murder, Di requests to be sent to Larkhall when she cannot afford the be bail settlement and learns the true identity of the killer. Natalie attempts to escape while out for the day but is stopped by a mob, organised by Pat. To get over the heartache of Sheena's release, Pat leads Natalie into a trap that could jeopardise her appeal but Sheena's release is short lived. Julie J begins to crack when she attacks both Joy and Julie S and then starts seeing Fenner...
Julie S is thrilled that Julie J has been allowed to return to Larkhall. But Julie J is still haunted by the memory of Fenner and is convinced that she can see him lurking around the landings and stabs herself in the stomach. New inmate, Miranda Miles, worsens the atmosphere when prison Chaplain, Christy Mackay is convinced she is possessed and pleads with Joy to let her perform an exorcism. Sylvia suffers a panic attack while down in the cellar with Phyl and falls down the steps, blocking the door and leaving Phyl trapped. Natalie manipulates Miranda into murdering Christy.
New Deputy Governor Lou Stoke has her work cut out on her first day at Larkhall when a sudden illness starts striking down the inmates. As rumours of a chemical attack start to spread, panic sets in, and all fingers point to new inmate Emira Al Jahani who is sent to Larkhall on suspicion of terrorism. Plus, Neil is found dead in his office following the sudden outbreak of Legionnaires' disease. Natalie's new right arm woman, Ashley Wilcox, is also found dead after contracting Legionnaires' disease. Phyl is shot in a bid for freedom with Bev.
Donny Kimber and Lou escort Janine to her mother's funeral, unaware that Natalie has blackmailed their grieving charge into smuggling drugs back into Larkhall. New SMO Rowan Dunlop, records all his work with his patients and falls for Lou. Phyl and Bev blackmail Rowan into transferring her to an open hospital. Pat exacts revenge on Natalie, forcing drugs down her throat.
New arrival Angela Robbins has been sent down for arson and attempted murder. She looks like she wouldn't say boo to a goose, but she is hiding a disturbing secret that is about to be revealed. Rowan and Lou grow closer and end up having sex. Also, Emira is freed from Larkhall after it is revealed that her husband, Hassan, was the real terrorist.
Julie S gets good news from her son. It gets steamy between Janine and Donny when they use an "appointment" to get to know each other a little more intimately. Will they manage to keep their romance under wraps? Items from the Four Bed Dorm are missing and Stella is the main suspect, so Darlene headbutts her. Phyl returns with plans to get alcohol into Larkhall, while Stella attacks Joy and is transferred. Natalie goes too far and Pat plots revenge, with the help of the Julies and Tina. Natalie attempts to force Julie S to reveal Pat's revenge plan by beating her up.
Lou and Vicky fall out following Vicky's suicide bid. It's the day of David and Fidelity's wedding and Pat's plan to get rid of Natalie backfires dramatically. As a massive fight ensues, it quickly becomes clear that there's a bitter and bloody end in store for one of them. Joy takes leave when she starts abusing alcohol. Janine slaps Darlene when she begins stealing her love letters to Donny.
Lou is glowing after a surprise marriage proposal from Rowan. She's totally unaware that he has no intention of divorcing his wife, or that he is supplying her sister with drugs. Janine goes on a day visit to her mother's grave with Donny, and the two get intimate and Janine attempts to free herself from Larkhall. Lou is sacked from Larkhall when she attacks Rowan.
Famous new inmate, entrepreneur and interior design goddess Catherine Earlham decides to make Darlene a pawn in her twisted and dangerous game. Sylvia becomes acting G-Wing Governor, while Janine discovers she is pregnant but has to fool Joy into believing that her boyfriend "Michael" is responsible.
