Paul Dano is a film star and has been nominated many times, but never won the big one. When a role comes along that spells Oscar, he loses out to Lone Richards, a young hunk Dano calls ""a face for a nine inch TV screen."" Richards naively seeks Dano's advice on how to play the part. Bad move. Dano gives Richards bad advice on purpose and Richards loses the part and Dano gets it. Richards becomes enraged by this and wants revenge.
Paul Dano est une star de cinéma nominée à plusieurs reprises mais qui n'a jamais remporté de prix. Quand arrive le rôle d'Oscar, il perd face à Lone Richards, un jeune premier que Dano appelle "un visage pour un écran de télévision de neuf pouces". Richards demande naïvement les conseils de Dano sur la façon de jouer le rôle. Mauvaiss idée. Dano donne volontairement de mauvais conseils à Richards, et celui-ci perd le rôle qui revient à Dano. Richards devient furieux et veut se venger.
