一橋桐子の犯罪日記

主人公・一橋桐子（松坂慶子）は、哀しみの淵に沈んでいた。年金とパートの収入で暮らしも楽ではない中、唯一の希望であった親友が病で亡くなり、毎日が突然、空虚な日々となったのだ。このままだと自分は孤独死してしまうのでは――生きていくことの困難さが、桐子の心を絞り上げていく。そんな時、テレビで見たある逮捕者の「世の中に未練はなかった。刑務所に入りたくてやった」という供述に心奪われた桐子は、終の住みかを“刑務所”に設定。「できるだけ人に迷惑をかけずに捕まる道」を模索し始める――。

Hitotsubashi Kiriko was in deep despair. Amidst her barely managed life relying on her meager pension and part-time income, her best friend and sole source of consolation had just died. The foreseeable days of emptiness, the pressure of carrying on alone, and the fear of dying in solitude gnaw at her heart. Then one day she sees on TV a man arrested for theft claiming that he had nothing left to hope for in his life, and that he had committed his crime for the purpose of going to prison. Inspired by this thought, she sets prison as her final home, and begins to search for ways to get arrested with the least amount of trouble caused to other people. The story is based on a novel by popular storywriter Harada Hika.
