The unaired pilot is almost identical to the first episode "Wax Lion" with only a few changes. Most notably, the characters of Mahandra and Aaron are played by different actors; Kerry Washington and Adam Scott respectively. In the DVD commentary, the creators explain that the original actors were unable to commit to future episodes. This version is also missing two scenes. It omits the scene where Jaye throws a quarter into the fountain near the beginning of the episode. The network supposedly wanted an impetus for why the muses started talking and added this scene. The second scene omitted is when Thomas tells Jaye at the end that he is going to marry the nurse. The scene was added because the network wanted the Thomas subplot resolved, even though the creators disliked the scene.
When Jaye Tyler is convinced by a waxed lion to chase after a shinny quarter, she finds herself returning a lost purse to a lady (who instead of thanking her, is punched in the face), meeting an attractive and sweet bartender names Eric, introducing her sister, Sharon to the EPS newly divorced bachelor, Thomas, she knows, and later discovering her sister, Sharon's sexuality.
While working another shift, Jaye is approached by a young girl who, after an introduction, tells her that she stole her wallet. As she gives it back to her, Jaye notices that she has a stuttering problem and a stuffed chameleon tells her to ""get her words out"". This eventually leads to the girl - nicknamed Binky- getting a job at Wonderfalls, with Jaye as her mentor. Unfortunately, Binky starts to take the mentor idea too seriously and seemingly takes Jaye's identity: Her job, her friends, her family, her looks, and her personality. With the animals still telling her to ""get her words out"", Jaye decides to take matters into her own hands.
Jaye and Eric find a woman in the Barrel, who they discover is a nun that is trying to leave her abbey. A priest comes looking for her to try to convince her to come back, but isn't very successful in doing so. Jaye naturally gets wrapped up in it, and taking instructions from the animals, eventually helps the two.
Jaye and Eric, now officially dating delve a little deeper into thier relationships. But Jaye, under the influence of the talking things that don't talk, snaps a photo of 2 birds which sets in motion a bird napping, a brother and best friend challenging, Jaye questioning her relationship with Eric and a zoologist and janitor's relationship.
First seen at wrap party on January 28, 2004, these bloopers were not seen by the public until 10 years later, when show co-creator Todd Holland posted the video to his YouTube account on January 18, 2014.
