We meet Wayne Anderson at the beginning of this episode, where he introduces himself as "Wayne Anderson, 43 years old, and been trying to make it in the music industry for 30 years". He's a big fan of the "evergreens" such as Tom Jones, and he laments about how he hasn't made it big in the music industry yet, telling us of people who have heard him sing, and then later asked him "why he wasn't in Las Vegas". He performs at a resthome once a week but wants to break out of that circuit. So, Wayne decides to hire a manager, and settles on ex-video store employee Orlando, who is willing to represent him and promises Wayne that he will make him a star. So first up is a trip to the Thirsty Dog bar on Auckland's K-road, but he decides to have a "pie-stop" on the way, where Wayne buys a pie and smothers Wattie's tinned spaghetti over the top. After this, they go down to the bar where Wayne is able to nab a gig for that night, and we finally get to hear him perform a few of his favourite songs, to an amused crowd.
