In total, Hitler survived no fewer than 42 assassination attempts from the time he first began his rise to power in the early 1930s, until he eventually took his own life roughly fifteen years later. Some of these plots were no more advanced than a lone-gunman looking for the perfect opportunity to strike, while others required the careful planning and coordination of hundreds. Today, we will be taking a look at this dark time in history and discussing some of the more well-known plots as well as how and why they failed.
