Veronica's New Year

Der Jahrtausendwechsel steht vor der Tür, und June hat weder Kosten noch Mühen gescheut und veranstaltet eine große Party, auf der sogar Mister Isaac Hayes persönlich auftreten wird. Als Ronnie davon erfährt, flippt sie völlig aus, denn Isaac Hayes ist schon seit ihrer Collegezeit ihr größtes Idol. Sie hatte damals sogar einen Song für ihn geschrieben, den sie irgendwann einmal mit Isaac Hayes im Duett singen wollte. Und dieser Wunsch wird nun in Erfüllung gehen, denn als Ronnie den Sänger persönlich kennen lernt, erklärt sich dieser sofort dazu bereit, Ronnies Lied mit ihr gemeinsam auf der Party zu singen. Doch kurz vor der Party knallt Perry seiner Chefin leider einen Golfball an den Kopf, von dem Ronnie so schwer getroffen wird, dass ihr die Ärzte eine aufwändige Stützkonstruktion aus Metall um den Kopf herum bauen und ihr strengste Bettruhe verordnen. Doch davon will Ronnie nichts wissen, denn sie will unbedingt ihr Lied mit Isaac Hayes singen...

As if it isn't news enough to find out that June has booked Isaac Hayes to perform at her big New Year's Eve bash, Mr. Hayes entertains Veronica's wish to sing a duet together. Ronnie begs Josh to play piano for the song, which she wrote for her and Isaac years ago in hopes of such an occasion, but its double entendre-ridden lyrics about a beef patty's special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun nearly scare Josh away. Perry worries that he can't finish all his 1999 New Year's resolutions in time, one of which is mastery of his 2-iron swing. Tiger Woods he's not, though his handicap at golf proves successful on one level when he scores a hole in one with Veronica's head. Doctor's orders are not heeded when Veronica is determined to sing her tune, concussion and frightening-looking head brace contraption clamped onto her skull and all. Leo has a problem with his girlfriend Lana's excessive public affection and asks her to save it for the bedroom. Leo's girlfrien
