When Jim started his mattress business in Houston, Texas he had $5,000 and a pickup truck. Now, he has a furniture empire through his “wacky ads” and gregarious personality. But it was an act of kindness that shined the international spotlight on Jim, as he opened all of his stores to displaced residents, during Hurricane Harvey.
