  • S2013E06 How to make a CO2 Cartridge Rifle

    • May 12, 2013

Follow along on this fun weekend project as we build a CO2 Cartridge Rifle. Only rather than being powered by the CO2 Cannister, this one uses the cartridge as the ammunition!!! I spend a lot of time shooting my Umarex Walther CP99 CO2 BB Pistol in my back yard. I've always got a pile of these empty CO2 canisters laying around, and that gave me an idea. Let's turn those into projectiles! Recycle them into ammunitions. Amazingly, they work extremely well! Why all the fuss about 3D printed guns? Who needs a 3D printed gun when you can build one at the hardware store in 20 minutes? No background check required. • S2013E14 How to make Copper Plated Quarters

    • June 8, 2013

Follow along in this video as Mike from The Geek Pub demonstrates a cool use of the Mini Forge! We're going to make copper plated quarters with nothing but heat and a little methanol! The Leidenfrost effect is demonstrated in this video, and results in our methanol boiling twice in rapid succession. It's a really neat effect. In addition to that, our methanol acts as a really cool oxidizer and our quarters become copper plated. The main source of heat in this project is a small propane torch. Be sure to use it in a well ventilated area. In my testing, this effect works on any quarter, but it works *best* on quarters made before 2000 (they contain different amounts of copper and nickel). NOTICE: This project can be dangerous and requires adult supervision. Risk of burns, cuts, and loss of fingers and vision. Be sure to follow all safety precautions and wear eye protection at all times. You assume all risks! If you build this project, make a video and post it as a video response to this video! • S2017E04 The LattePanda Single Board Computer (Perfect for Windows Arcades)

    • July 15, 2017

Whether you’re building an arcade or some other contraption the goto board for most of these projects has been the Raspberry Pi series of single board computers. Since the Raspberry Pi runs an ARM Cortex processor, you would normally run Raspbian - which is a Linux based operating system. If you want to run Windows, you're stuck with Windows 10 IoT or Internet of Things. This can be less than desirable because Windows 10 IoT will not run most desktop applications and can be very limited in functionality. Well now there’s a single board computer running an Intel Atom processor that comes pre-loaded with a full copy of Windows 10. It has x86 GPIO and even includes an integrated Arduino. Let me introduce you to the LattePanda! Now many of you over the years have asked me if there is a Windows based computer that you can use in my arcade projects and other projects. And the answer has been “Sure! Just go ahead and build any Windows based PC and put it into your arcade. Well unfortunately when building a bartop arcade or some of my smaller projects a full-size PC isn’t really optimal and may not even fit. Well the good news is they guys over at DFRobot have been listening to us and they have come up with this single board computer that is slightly larger than a Raspberry Pi and runs a full version of Windows 10. In fact it comes pre-loaded from the factory with Windows 10 and this is perfect for smaller projects like bartop arcade cabinets. So let’s take a look at it! Learn more and read my blog article here: https://www.thegeekpub.com/9311/the-lattepanda-s…d-computer-intro/ Get the LattePanda here: LattePanda 2GB RAM/32GB HD: http://amzn.to/2vp3r7A LattePanda 4GB RAM/64GB HD: http://amzn.to/2um7m8g LattePanda Acrylic Case: http://amzn.to/2trUb0Y LattePanda Plywood Case: http://amzn.to/2umFfFU LattePanda Fan: http://amzn.to/2t2JiUa LattePanda Heatskinks: http://amzn.to/2tXm4ji LattePanda 7" IPS Display: http://amzn.to/2trMg3V LattePanda TouchScre

  • S2019E01 Let's Talk Arduino - An Introduction (Updated)

    • May 6, 2019

Support this Channel on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/TheGeekPub In this video, we're going to learn about the Arduino platform for micro-controllers. It seems like a lot of people confuse the Arduino (and hence micro-controllers) with the Raspberry Pi, and they have very different uses. Let's talk about them briefly, and I'll even show you how I am using Arduino Mega 2560s in my R2-D2 build! (This video has been updated to correct an error in the original video.) Check out our detailed Arduino Intro Article: https://www.thegeekpub.com/236218/an-introduction-to-the-arduino/ Learn more about my R2-D2 build here: https://www.thegeekpub.com/tag/r2-d2/ Get an Arduino Uno here: https://amzn.to/2GXoyVN Get an Arduino Mega 2560 here: https://amzn.to/2POSQhE Get an Arduino Nano here: https://amzn.to/2GWxk6A Find us on Social Media: http://facebook.com/TheGeekPub http://instagram.com/TheGeekPub http://twitter.com/TheGeekPub

  • S2019E03 Full Size R2-D2 Remote Control System (Raspberry Pi & Arduino)

    • May 11, 2019

Support this Channel on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/TheGeekPub I've had many of you ask me how I went about building the full size R2-D2 remote control system. I will walk you through what I have built so far and how I expect to expand on it in the future.  Most of the R2-D2 remote control systems are based on model airplane controls and those are fine, but they're unintelligent systems. Meaning they just send a command to servo in analog format and nothing else. I wanted an intelligent system that I could interface with through many different methods. So I've based my control system on the Raspberry Pi and Arduino platforms using the I2C bus to control everything. Read more at my website: https://www.thegeekpub.com/236509/full-size-r2-d2-remote-control/ Parts list for building my R2-D2: https://www.thegeekpub.com/full-size-r2-d2-parts-list/ Find us on Social Media: http://facebook.com/TheGeekPub http://instagram.com/TheGeekPub http://twitter.com/TheGeekPub

This is a video I made about 8 months ago for another channel. I've been asked to share it on this channel, so I hope you will indulge me, since I know this isn't about making anything. And please forgive the harlem shake at the end. It was a big deal when I originally made this video.
