Richard Axel is a neuroscientist who won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2004 with Linda Buck for his work on the olfactory system. He is currently University Professor and Professor of Biochemistry, Molecular Biophysics, and Pathology at Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons, as well as an Investigator at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.
