Thirteen-year-old Kevin Buchannon (Adam Hann-Byrd) lives at the bottom of the high-school food chain, scorned by other geeks, picked on by the jocks. At home, he lives in the shadow of his older brother Josh, a football star whose every accomplishment is celebrated by the boys' father, Alex (Daniel Hugh Kelly). Then one day, Kevin sees a plane crash in the woods near his house. He rushes to the scene with his dog Cody to find a mysterious ship occupied by the severely injured Captain Turner (Chris Potter). Turner tells Kevin the ship is a top-secret experimental aircraft and instructs Kevin on how to bandage and heal his wounds. But Turner reveals more than he intends to, when the strain of his injuries causes him to briefly lose consciousness. When he does, he inadvertently reveals himself to be a shape-shifting alien, lapsing into his real form - that of a monstrous alien. Kevin Buchannon a 13 ans et vit réellement un enfer, étant placé au dernier rang de la chaîne alimentaire de son lycée, entre les geeks et embêté par les joueurs de football. A la maison, il vit dans l'ombre de son grand frère Josh, une star du football, dont chaque victoire est célébrée dignement. Mais un jour, Kevin voit un avion se crasher dans les bois, près de la maison. Il se rend immédiatement sur les lieux avec son chien Cody et découvre un vaisseau occupé par le capitaine Turner qui est sérieusement blessé. Turner apprend au jeune garçon que le vaisseau est un projet top secret, il lui explique également comment bander et soigner ses blessures. Mais de ce fait, il lui révèle trop de choses et perd conscience. Turner est en réalité un alien ayant pris une forme humaine, qui escortait un meurtrier vers son monde lorsque le vaisseau s'est écrasé. Tyr'Nar donne également à Kevin une mystérieuse pièce lui permettant de riposter contre ses ennemis et lui promet de lui offrir l'écoute que son père n'a jamais pu lui donner...
