Panik breitet sich aus, als Christine von der Idee ihres Ex-Mannes Richard erfährt, dass er seine neue Freundin seinem Sohn Ritchie vorstellen möchte. Christine tries not to have a meltdown when her ex-husband, Richard, brings his "new" Christine with him to pick up Ritchie and take him to breakfast so that they can get to know one another. By day's end, Christine tries to pull herself together to make a good impression at parents' night at Ritchie's school, but is caught off guard when "new" Christine shows up as well.
Quand Richard invite sa nouvelle petite amie à déjeuner pour la présenter à Ritchie, Christine tente de garder son calme et d'accepter la situation. Le soir même, ils doivent assister à une réunion de parents d'élèves, mais lorsque Richard s'y rend à nouveau accompagné de la jeune femme, « Old » Christine sort de ses gonds.
Christine decide di fare una super festa per il compleanno di Richie perché tutti i suoi compagni di scuola organizzano sempre feste molto costose, ma andata in agenzia si rende conto che il prezzo di una festa del genere è troppo elevato; decide così di organizzare una festa casalinga. I bambini e i loro genitori, però, non sono soddisfatti della festa, ma quando tutto sembra andare per il peggio trovano nel divano robaccia sporca e Christine improvvisa così una caccia al tesoro. La mattina dopo, nonostante i bambini si siano divertiti, affibbiano a Richie il soprannome di poveraccio. Nel frattempo Matthew intraprende una strana storia con la madre di uno dei compagni di scuola di Richie.
