Michael hat einen Modeljob in Japan angenommen, und da er sich nicht vorstellen kann, ein Jahr lang ohne Maggie zu sein, macht er ihr einen Heiratsantrag. Ganz in Frans Sinne nimmt Maggie seinen Antrag begeistert an. Maxwell ist zwar strikt dagegen, dass Maggie so jung heiratet, doch das interessiert die Frauen der Fine-Familie nicht im Geringsten - sie planen sofort die Hochzeit. Mit Frans Hilfe schafft Maggie es schließlich doch noch, Maxwell gnädig zu stimmen. Als Fran am Tag der Hochzeit erfährt, dass Barbra Streisand und James Brolin unter den Gästen sind, setzen bei ihr vor lauter Aufregung die Wehen ein. Im Krankenhaus stellt sich zwar heraus, dass es falscher Alarm war, doch der Doktor will Fran zur Sicherheit trotzdem über Nacht dabehalten. Fran denkt natürlich nicht daran im Krankenhaus zu bleiben, wenn Barbra Streisand bei ihr zu Hause singt, und so macht sie sich hinter Maxwells Rücken auf den Heimweg. Dummerweise hat Maxwell ihr zuliebe dafür gesorgt, dass Barbra und alle anderen Hochzeitsgäste als Überraschung ins Krankenhaus kommen...
Michael got a modeling job in Japan, so he proposes to Maggie so they don't have to be apart. Maxwell has a hard time accepting the fact that his little daughter has grown into a mature woman, but eventually comes to terms with Michael. On the wedding day, Fran finds out Michael's cousin is James Brolin, Barbara Streisand's husband, and that Barbara herself is coming to the ceremony. Fran is in such shock for finally meeting her idol that has contractions and is rushed to the hospital. It's all a false alarm, but Fran does not want to stay in the hospital while Barbara is at her house. She sneaks out, but when she gets home there's nobody there. Max calls the house and reveals Fran he planned a little surprise for her: he took Barbara to the hospital. Fran doesn't forgive her, but the wedding goes on and Maggie finally marries the man of her life.
