Jo Brand, Stephen K Amos and comedy duo Watson and Oliver are the first four to arrive in the tent. Facing signature shortbread as well as a dastardly technical challenge of custard slices and a showstopping portrait cake, they will be tested to the limit. But who will claim tonight's coveted title?
Claudia Winkleman, Ed Byrne, Martha Kearney and Olympian Helen Glover try to impress the judges in the last round. Attempting to prove that they've got what it takes to claim the title of Comic Relief star baker, they attempt signature chocolate biscuits, get to grips with a family size lemon meringue pie and try to celebrate Comic Relief's 25th anniversary with a showstopping birthday cake.
The Great British Bake Off returns with four special Comic Relief programmes. In each episode four different celebrities battle it out in the Bake Off tent in an attempt to raise money for Comic Relief - and to win the coveted Comic Relief Star Baker apron. Sue Perkins presents the opening episode. The first brave celebrities to enter the Bake Off Tent are four of the most iconic figures in British entertainment - Joanna Lumley, Jennifer Saunders, Lulu, and Dame Edna Everage - who has come out retirement especially for Comic Relief. They must take on three challenges set by Mary and Paul. The first challenge they are set is enormous for these baking novices: they have to make a giant cookie or biscuit. The technical challenge is one of Mary's classic recipes, 12 mini fruit tarts, and there's a demanding showstopper challenge - a tiered chocolate cake inspired by a memorable occasion. Who makes a mess of their measurements, and who proves to be a rising star and be crowned Comic Relief star baker? They are baking for Comic Relief to inspire you at home to do the same, and raise money for people who need your help. Comedian Ed Byrne visits a Comic Relief-funded project in Uganda to meet street children who are being helped by your donations.
In the second episode of the Great Comic Relief Bake Off, presenter Mel Giedroyc welcomes four more gallant celebrities into the Bake Off tent to test out their baking expertise. They are Gok Wan, Jonathan Ross, Abbey Clancy and Zoe Sugg - also known as internet sensation Zoella. With mixed baking abilities amongst the group there is fierce competition in the quest to impress the judges, legendary cookery writer Mary Berry and acclaimed master baker Paul Hollywood. This closely fought contest sees the four bakers tackle a traditional recipe in the signature challenge (24 cupcakes), struggle with a taxing technical bake (20 profiteroles) and flaunt their creative skills in the show-stopper challenge (a marble cake inspired by their favourite building). When the going gets tough the pressure proves to be a recipe for disaster for some, but who will manage to keep their cool and walk away with the Comic Relief Star Baker title? While the bakers aim to inspire others to bake and raise money for Comic Relief, comedian Ed Byrne visits a Comic Relief-funded project in Uganda to see how your donations really are making a difference to those who really need it. He visits a hospital where babies are being vaccinated against deadly diseases thanks to money raised by Comic Relief.
In the third episode of the Great Comic Relief Bake Off, Jo Brand welcomes four more celebrities into the tent to lay bare their baking skills. They are David Mitchell, Michael Sheen, Radio 1 DJ Jameela Jamil and Sarah Brown. The nervous bakers get off to a crumbly start in the signature challenge (24 portions of shortbread), face one of Paul's notoriously difficult recipes in the technical challenge (six mini pork pies) and put their unique stamps on the showstopper bake (triple-tiered pavlova with fruit). Tensions are high and confusion is rife, but who will impress and who will miss the mark? Judged by legendary cookery writer Mary Berry and acclaimed master baker Paul Hollywood, these four will have to pull out all the stops to impress the judges and be crowned Comic Relief Star Baker. Comedian Ed Byrne visits a Comic Relief-funded project in Uganda, showing how the money raised on Red Nose Day really does help change people's lives.
In the fourth episode of the Great Comic Relief Bake Off, the final four celebrities battle it out in the tent. The programme is presented by comedian Ed Byrne, and the bakers this time are Victoria Wood, Alexa Chung, Chris Moyles and Kayvan Novak. They face three tricky challenges set by Mary and Paul. The celebrities serve up some unique twists on the signature bake (tray bake), tackle one of Paul's challenging recipes in the technical (12 crumpets) and get creative in the show-stopper challenge (vegetable cake self-portrait). Timings prove problematic for some and confidence crumbles, but who will demonstrate baking brilliance and be crowned star baker? They're all baking to inspire you to do the same and raise some money for Comic Relief. Paul Hollywood visits a Comic Relief-funded project here in the UK to see how the cash you raise really can help change people's lives.
Mel Giedroyc hosts this first episode featuring comedian Jason Manford, EastEnders actor Maddy Hill, former England goalkeeper David James and businesswoman Samantha Cameron. The contestants face three challenges - making canapes using rough puff pasty, preparing a Paris-Brest, a French dessert, and finally, creating a 3-D cake in the shape of a sporting trophy.
Celebrities take on baking challenges for Sport Relief. Jennifer Saunders hosts this second episode as four celebrities face their three challenges set by judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood. The bakers on the starting line are former Labour politician Ed Balls, writer and presenter Victoria Coren Mitchell, sports commentator Chris Kamara and singer and actress Kimberley Walsh. The bakers must make 24 identical American-style muffins for their signature challenge, football pies in the technical challenge and, finally, show-stopping tiered cakes representing an extreme sport. Interesting flavours and confusion abound in this baking battle. Who will bag the coveted title of star baker? Whilst the bakers aim to inspire others to raise money, Denise Lewis visits a project in Tyne and Wear where she meets Linda and Hughie. Hughie was diagnosed with dementia six years ago at the age of 59. Denise finds out how money raised really does make a difference to his quality of life.
Four more celebrities head to the famous Bake Off tent in aid of UK fundraising event, Sport Relief. Judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood set three tasks to test each celebrity's baking prowess, while comedian Ed Byrne is on hand to guide them through. The celebrities taking up the baking baton this time are ex-Spice Girl Geri Horner, BBC world affairs editor John Simpson, footballer and pundit Jermaine Jenas and 1990s pop sensation Louise Redknapp.
The four Comic Relief Bake Off star bakers are interviewed by Jo Brand, and one of them is declared the overall winner of The Great Comic Relief Bake Off 2015. The star bakers have each baked a cake in keeping with this year's Comic Relief theme, 'make your face funny for money', but which cake will stand out and who will be crowned Comic Relief Bake Off champion? Jo is also joined by The Great British Bake Off's resident judge Mary Berry, as well as Bake Off fan and comedian Frank Skinner and former Bake Off contestant Howard Middleton. The panel celebrates the shenanigans in the Comic Relief Bake Off tent, samples the audience's baps and looks at pictures of viewers' buns from home, as well as revealing unseen moments from the tent. Will Mary Berry dish the dirt on the bakers? Who will be crowned winner? And will the losers take it in their stride?
