Derwin invites Melanie to his first away game in Miami, but due to her heavy school load, she decides to pass. When Tasha and Kelly find out she is not going, they persuade her to change her mind by telling her away games are a play ground for cheating. Meanwhile, Derwin's teammates are upset that he invited Melanie and tell him he needs to un-invite her, fearing the other wives will use her as a spy.
As a favor to Derwin, Melanie attends the first Saber Sunbeam meeting of the season, only to learn that unlike the wives, football players' "girlfriends" are not considered legitimate and are treated as such by the other wives. On the same day, Derwin attends his first rookie seminar where he is given a lecture about gold diggers, STDs and is hazed by the other players. Later that night, Melanie and Derwin attend a party where Melanie, has a conversation with another player and is perceived to be flirting with him. When the player's girlfriend confronts Melanie, she realizes the rules of the game in the pros will take some getting use to.
When Kelly's (Brittany Daniel) daughter (Erica Gluck) tells her she wants an extravagant birthday party like the rest of her friends, Kelly approaches Jason (Coby Bell) for money and he refuses. Meanwhile, when Derwin (Pooch Hall) beats Malik (Hosea Chanchez) in a XBOX John Madden game, Malik takes the loss badly and repeatedly comes to Derwin for a re-match to redeem himself. Tia Mowry and Wendy Raquel Robinson also star.
A minor argument escalates into a major locker room rift between Jason and Malik that affects their playing relationship on the field. The locker room tension spills over to Kelly and Tasha, leaving Melanie in the middle and in an awkward position when she insists that they all come to her house for a dinner party. When Tasha (Wendy Raquel Robinson) returns early from a trip she finds Malik (Hosea Chanchez) throwing a wild party at their house and shuts it down. Fed up with his mom running his personal life, Malik asks her to move out and find her own place. When Derwin's image consultant ( guest star Shanti Lowry), tells Derwin her idea to pair him with football player Trey Wiggs (guest star Chaz Lamar Shepherd), his former college teammate, he objects, saying he and Trey were more like rivals than teammates. Meanwhile, Derwin learns that Melanie had lunch with Trey, though she insists that it is strictly platonic. However when a local paper secretly photographs Melanie having a second lunch with Trey, things heat up. Coby Bell and Brittany Daniel also star.
When Melanie (Tia Mowry) learns that Derwin (Pooch Hall) is still upset about the bad publicity caused by her continuing friendship with an old football rival, she tries to find various ways to make it up to him. However, when Derwin refuses to acknowledge that there is a problem, Melanie calls her mother and starts packing. Meanwhile Kelly (Brittany Daniel) and Tasha (Wendy Raquel Robinson) persuade Malik (Hosea Chanchez) and Jason (Coby Bell) to talk some sense into Derwin.
When Kelly attempts to please Jason, take care of her daughter and impress Jason's parents who visit from out of town, she overworks herself and has a breakdown, Meanwhile, Malik starts to worry about winning the playoff game and enlists Derwin as his new practice partner. Melanie and Derwin discover that Melanie might be pregnant. Melanie realizes she is not ready for parenthood and puts off taking the pregnancy test. Excited about the possibility of a baby, Derwin plans to surprise Melanie with a half-time proposal during the game, but Melanie tries to stop him when she discovers she is not pregnant. Although The Sabers lose their game and are eliminated from the playoffs, Derwins performance earns him the attention of a high-profile manager. Melanie is shocked when Derwin considers a proposal that he be traded to a Chicago team. Meanwhile, Malik, taking the game loss really hard, decides to write a rap to vent his feelings, and Kelly and Jason try to hide their feelings about losing the game. When Jason doesn't get selected for the Pro Bowl game he begins to question his future and starts planning for retirement. Meanwhile, Malik is selected for the Pro Bowl once again, but decides not to take Tasha with him to Hawaii, fearing she will embarrass him by trying to scout new clients. When Malik finds out that the love of his life, model/actress Eva Marcelle (guest starring as herself) is getting married, he decides to use up-and-coming singer Drew Sidora (guest starring as herself) to make Eva jealous. Learning that she has been used, Drew turns to Derwin as a shoulder to cry on. Later, Drew asks Derwin to be in her new music video and their on-screen kiss leads to more than he anticipated. Kelly is happy when she finds out Jason wants to have another baby. But when Tasha offers her a job at her management firm, Kelly has a quick change of heart. Meanwhile, when R&B singer Drew Sidora starts calling Derwin on a consistent basis he realizes their recent flirtation has gone a step too far. Tia Mowry and Hosea Chanchez also star.
When Camille (guest star Jolie Jenkins), the wife of the newest star Saber, joins the Sunbeams, she decides to run against Kelly for president. Kelly expects Tasha to vote for her, however Tasha would rather have Kelly devote her full time to being her assistant. Meanwhile, Malik, Jason and Derwin have trouble getting along with the new Saber defensive star Ty (guest star Nick Von Esmarch).
Tasha's boyfriend Kenny (guest star Rocky Carroll) confronts her about her aggressive attitude, and asks her to tone it down when he introduces her to his group of friends. Later, during a gathering with Kenny's friends, a comment made about Tasha sends her off the deep end. Meanwhile, one of Melanie's late-night study sessions causes problems with Derwin.
When Derwin is unexpectedly forced to take Melanie to singer Drew Sidora's (guest starring as herself) video release party, he panics over how the meeting between them is going to turn out. Kelly and Tasha continue to grow in their work relationship, while Tasha has trouble finding new clients. Meanwhile Jason struggles with his new parenting responsibilities.
During ESPY week in Los Angeles, Derwin gets an unexpected endorsement deal and is left to celebrate with Drew Sidora (guest starring as herself), while Melanie is busy studying in San Diego. Malik runs into Renee (guest star Kendra C. Johnson) an old flame, but when things heat up and she wants to spend time with him in public, he gets cold feet because she is overweight. Feeling conflicted, Malik asks Tasha for advice to sort out his feelings about Renee.
In the conclusion of the first-season finale, Melanie and Derwin have a heated argument about their impending engagement status. Derwin sleeps with Drew. Meanwhile, Jason gets a reality check when he is asked to speak on camera and conduct special interviews for ESPN. Later, Kelly helps Tasha get new clients by using an unusual sales technique. In the last scene, we see Melanie over-hearing Dionne tell Derwin she knows about him and Drew and Melanie takes off the ring before getting in the elevator while telling him it's over.
This season, 'The Game' returns with a follow up to the enticing season finale. Derwin learns that it may be too late to reunite with Melanie after his infidelity when Melanie shows up with an old friend, Trey Wiggs (guest star Chaz Lamar Shepherd) to help collect her stuff and move out for good. Meanwhile, Malik becomes a chick-magnet for plus-size women after his on-air smooch with Renee. Wendy Raquel Robinson, Coby Bell and Brittany Daniel also star.
Homeless, heartbroken, and distraught, Melanie turns to Derwin's rival, Trey Wiggs, for comfort. After sleeping with him, Trey offers Melanie financial assistance, leaving Melanie to make a decision on whether or not to accept it. Meanwhile, Jason butt heads with the new coach ( Jason Lee ) when the Sabers football team is sold to new owners.
When Renee is unable to engage in romantic affairs with Malik after he invites her over and she learns that he lives with his mother; it prompts Malik to ask Melanie for advice, and eventually explain to Tasha that they will need alternate their living arrangements. Meanwhile, Jason makes a far out attempt to make peace with his new coach by hosting bible study for the team at his house, even though he's been idle from church for the last 20 yrs. Pooch Hall and Brittany Daniel also star.
Recently out of rehab, Kelly convinces Jason to let her brother, Brandon, stay with them. Later, Brandon catches Jason using steroids and promises to keep Jason's secret but when Kelly finds a syringe in the trash, she automatically suspects Brandon is back to his old ways and kicks him out of their home. Wendy Raquel Robinson, Hosea Chanchez and Pooch Hall also star.
After Melanie agrees to go out to dinner with Derwin, he decides to plan a surprise proposal with the help of R&B singer Musiq Soulchild. Things take a turn for the worse when Melanie sees Derwin kissing Drew at the Music Video Awards. Assuming that she has been fooled again by Derwin, an intoxicated Melanie decides to get payback and tries to sleep with Malik. Wendy Raquel Robinson, Coby Bell and Brittany Daniel also star.
Tasha tells Melanie that she has to find a place of her own in a month, Meanwhile, Derwin calls Melanie's parents and informs them about their breakup, causing Melanie to get upset and she reveals that she slept with Trey and that he is paying for her medical school tuition. Later, Jason has trouble performing in the the bedroom, prompting Kelly to suspect that he's having an affair and Dionne offers Melanie a place to stay. Hosea Chanchez also stars.
Malik becomes the whopping boy for a cartoonist after making a politically incorrect statement. Things take a change for the worse when Malik tries to make amends and ends up punching the cartoonist. Malik turns to Tasha to help him but she's out signing a new client to Tasha Mack Management. Meanwhile, guilt stricken Jason confesses to Derwin about this lies to Kelly about his use of steroids.
Melanie gets a job waitressing at a coffee shop, Meanwhile, Derwin, enjoying his new single superstar status, decides to start dating a new girl, named Raquel (Guest star: Nicole Pulliam). Later, when Derwin shows up with Raquel at Melanie's job, Melanie has to suffer mortification while she serves them. Afterwards, Melanie learns that Derwin's new girlfriend is planning to impregnate herself by Derwin via a turkey baster; but when she tells Derwin, he assumes that Melanie is just jealous. Dionne ditches sympathetic Melanie, who decided to stay in San Diego after learning that Dionne would be spending Christmas alone, after she learns that an endorsement opportunity she pitched for Derwin has been resurrected. She decides to take back Derwin as her client and spend her holidays in St. Barts. Meanwhile, Kelly and Jason argue over his frugal spending during the holidays and Malik begins to question Tasha's allegiance to him.
Rick Fox returns. A night of getting acquainted with her co-workers at Irv Smif Management leads to Tasha getting flashed by Lev, one of her co-workers who happens to be white. After telling Kelly about the event, Kelly tells Tasha she has been disrespected and advises her not to let him get away with it. Meanwhile, Jason and Kelly attend marriage counseling sessions.
As things heat up with Jerome, Melanie decides to pull back afraid of commitment but after running into Derwin and his new interest, (Guest star: Gabrielle Dennis), Melanie decides it's time to commit but later finds Jerome with another woman. Meanwhile, Jason is distraught to learn that he might be benched at the next game.
Melanie tries to convince Derwin to attend a victory parade for the Sabers. He reluctantly agrees but ends up running into Janay (guest star Gabrielle Dennis), who decides to put his feelings for Melanie to the test. Meanwhile, Jason is upset that he hasn't received a contract. Hosea Sanchez, Wendy Raquel Robinson and Brittany Daniel also star
After Melanie accepts a gift from Derwin, Jerome begins to question her commitment to their relationship. Melanie tries to thraw his questioning by planning a romantic get away trip in Los Angeles but her plans go awry once she realizes that the Sabers are celebrating in the same hotel that they are is staying in. Derwin and Malik commiserate over losing Melanie and Robin Givens respectively. Tasha gets upset when she learns that Rick Fox is being promoted to manager and she ends up sharing an intimate moment with him. Meanwhile, After firing his manager, Kelly tries to convince Jason to sign with Irv.
Melanie finally confesses to Derwin that she is in love with him, but soon after Derwin tells her about Janay's pregancy. Meanwhile, Malik has to face Tasha once she finds out about his engagement to guest star Robin Givens. Kelly enlist the help of her parents (Guest stars Lee Garlington as Bren and Don McManus as Nick), to help her keep Jason out of her life.
While Rick is ready to make their relationship public, Tasha refuses to do so and goes out of her way to keep it a secret from their co-workers. Meanwhile, Malik begins to realize that his marriage may not work out since Robin seems to be in it just for publicity. Finally, Melanie and Derwin's sex life begins to become practically non-existent because Derwin is too worried about becoming a father.
Tasha boycotts Malik's marriage to Robin Givens, fearing that their marriage is a scam. At the reception, everyone assumes Melanie is the girl who is expecting Derwin's child and Rick Fox decides to introduce Tasha to his mom, (Guest star Penny Marshall). Additional guest stars include New Orleans Hornets' Chris Paul and actors Tisha Campbell-Martin ("My Wife and Kids") and Duane Martin ("All of Us") who all play themselves in the episode. Brittany Daniel and Coby Bell also star.
Melanie reluctantly turns to her parents for financial help when she learns that her grant money to cover for her tuition has been revoked and she has been placed on academic probation, Meanwhile, Derwin learns bad news from Irv (Guest star: PJ Byrne) about his contract negotiations. Malik and Tasha are freaked out to learn that Robin Givens (Guest star as Herself) and Rick Fox (Guest star as Himself) shared a past together. Kelly goes on her first date since her split with Jason.
Derwin advises Jason to stop at nothing to win Kelly back and put an end to all the divorce talk, but Jason's grand gesture may be too little too late for Kelly. When Robin (Robin Givens playing herself) tells Malik to stop fooling around with other women in order to keep up the charade of their fake marriage, Malik decides it's time to play by his rules.
Everyone believes that Malik is gay after Robin Given's implies this while on national TV as the reason for their breakup. While Malik is teased by his teammates, its revealed that another player on the team is gay, but can't face being outed. Meanwhile, Derwin accuses Melanie of dating a doctor while at work.
Tasha finds out that Rick's job is in jeopardy so she does everything in her power to prevent that from happening. Malik is obsessed with learning everything there is to know about his father and why they were apart all of these years. Melanie comes to the conclusion that the only reason Derwin is back together with Janay is to teach Melanie a lesson.
The third season concludes with Melanie trying to marry Derwin before Janay gives birth to Derwin's baby, even if it requires sacrificing her dream wedding. Meanwhile, Jason is arrested for hitting Kelly's boyfriend, and Kelly learns that Tasha is the one who introduced Jason to Camille, and she's not too happy about it.
Derwin and Melanie are now two years married with Melanie being a housewife and a step-mom to Derwin’s son. If you remember, she spent the previous few seasons studying to become a doctor. Of course, she has some suspicion that Derwin’s son isn’t really his so she decides to get a DNA test behind his back. Tasha Mack dating a much younger guy named Donte. She tries to keep her true feelings for him low but ends up breaking out emotionally when she discovers his ex-girlfriend was Sheree from the show “Real Housewives of Atlanta.” Meanwhile, we see Malik’s success getting to his head. He is currently sleeping with the majority owner of his team’s girlfriend (played by the hot Meagan Good) and he is pushing his best friend to the limits. He eventually gets caught by his friend Terrence who walks in on Malik in a Jacuzzi with the owner’s girlfriend and Terrence’s girlfriend. Lastly, the ongoing battle between Jason and Kelly continue. They just got out of their divorce and they spend the entire episode trying to get each other even more upset.
Jason meets Chardonnay’s friends who open his eyes to the racism in the world that fame has blinded him to. Derwin tries to get Kwan to follow his lead socially in hopes that it will translate to the field. Melanie and Tasha’s feud finds a public forum while preparing for the annual Sunbeams fashion show.
Season 6 opens with Derwin's life in disarray after he's traded. Elsewhere, top draft pick Bryce "Blue" Westbrook celebrates his acquisition by going to a Malik-hosted party and getting frisky with his childhood crush. In an attempt to expand his empire beyond football, Malik seeks out an investor for his new business venture. Meanwhile, after having brunch with Brittany, Jason and Chardonnay begin to question how well they really know one another when information they never knew about each other is revealed. Tasha bribes Chardonnay with designer clothes and accessories in an attempt to prevent her from discussing the Rick Fox kiss with anyone.
Keira bids a lot of money on a date with Blue at a charity auction in order to maintain her high-profile image, resulting in a confession that her income isn’t as expendable as it used to be. Meanwhile, per Chardonnay’s advice, Tasha decides to continue her affair with Rick after realizing she is in love with both him and Pookie.
Malik throws a party hoping to land investors for his latest business venture, only to meet an heiress/business woman, who forces him to re-evaluate his entire business approach and plan. Meanwhile, Tasha’s love triangle becomes further complicated when both Pookie and Rick show up to Malik’s investment party, forcing Chardonnay to become involved on Tasha’s behalf. Finally, Keira and Blue indulge in a fun drinking game to make light of the fact that partygoers assume that they are a couple.
Tasha attempts to salvage her friendship with Pookie after it is revealed she has been cheating on him with Rick. Meanwhile, Jason and Chardonnay have it out over her involvement in Tasha’s love triangle. Finally, Keira and Blue each share their side of the break-up with Malik (at different times), while patronizing Drop Bar.
Blue becomes suspicious of Keira’s brief relationship with Luke, and their relationship is tested when he finds out she wasn’t honest about sleeping with her co-star. Meanwhile, Tasha goes on an apology tour and takes the final steps in getting closure. Jason and Chardonnay remain at odds over him not wanting to give up football. Finally, Malik reunites with Tee Tee, both personally and professionally, but suffers a devastating blow when Franko shows up and causes problems.
Malik is severely beaten by Franko and his crew, and everyone awaits word of his fate. As they hold a vigil at the hospital, Blue and Keira contemplate the next steps in their relationship. After realizing he is a difficult husband, Jason attempts to make amends with Chardonnay by writing an apology letter to Kelly. Finally, Tasha and Walter arrive at the hospital in time to hear the news of Malik’s prognosis.
It's the Sabers 50th anniversary in honor of the retirement of fellow Sabers wide receiver Jason Pitts' jersey. With his wife, Chardonnay, behind him for support, Jason is ready to embark on his next journey. The ceremony takes a turn for the worst as Jason's past involvement with steroids is brought up from a former colleague. Keira makes an attempt to winning Blue back but at desperate measures.
In order to get back at Jason for kissing Kelly, Chardonnay enlists the help of Tasha to find her someone to kiss. Meanwhile, Blue and Keira are in love again but the couple can not come to mutual ground as to whose apartment they should live in. Malik's physical therapist, Yana, comes to his defense against Tori.
Tasha goes into labor just as Jason and Chardonnay's plan on renewing their vows. Keira and Blue take a big step forward in their relationship. Yana won't give Malik's the clearance to play, causing a problem in their relationship. Jason makes a confession that changes everyone's feelings. Tee Tee is asked to be the godfather of Tasha's baby.
Keira and Blue both have a moment of clarity when they return home. Chardonnay plots her next move as she must move on from Jason. Malik shows up for practice and plots a return.
In the series finale, Pookie accidentally shoots Rick Fox, who bonds with Chardonnay when she drives him to the hospital. In other events, Malik leads the Sabers to a comeback win, which sends them to the playoffs; Kelly and Jason go to the mat with Herbie Lesser in an effort to save Jason's job; Malik proposes to Keira; Chardonnay wakes up in Las Vegas; and Tasha has a happy ending.
