Um vier Jugendlichen das Leben zu retten steigen Johnny und Walt zusammen mit einem Rettungsteam in eine stillgelegte Kupfermine. Visionen von früheren Katastrophen erschrecken Johnny ebenso wie der Blick auf seine und Walts unmittelbare Zukunft: Er sieht Walts Tod und seinen eigenen in der Mine voraus. Tatsächlich wird Walt kurz darauf so schwer verletzt, dass er ins Koma fällt.
As Walt begins to wonder what's between Johnny and his wife Sara, a group of teenagers disappear into an abandoned copper mine that was owned by Johnny's grandfather. Walt brings Johnny in to help with the rescue and Smith soon begins to get visions not only of the teens but of the miners who died in an incident in 1949 brought on by his grandfather's actions. The ghost miners seem to be striking back at Johnny and Walt is seriously injured. The teens are rescued but Johnny gets a vision of Walt's funeral as he is taken away in the ambulance. In una miniera del nonno di Smith, un gruppo di ragazzi rischia la vita essendo rimasti bloccati al suo interno. Johnny e Walt corrono in loro aiuto, ma mentre il primo è frenato dai ricordi di un passato della sua famiglia alla vista dei minatori morti, il secondo si ferisce in seguito a un crollo.
Mientras Walt empieza a imaginar qué puede estar pasando entre su mujer, Sarah, y Johnny, un grupo de adolescentes desaparece dentro de una antigua mina de cobre que fue propiedad de su padre. Johnny ayuda a Walt en las tareas de rescate y empieza a tener visiones, no solamente sobre los chicos perdidos sino también sobre los mineros que murieron en 1949 por culpa de su abuelo. Al final, los jóvenes son rescatados pero Johnny prevé la muerte de Walt mientras se lo lleva una ambulancia...
