Die 10-jährige Erin lebt gemeinsam mit ihrer Mutter in einem kleinen Dorf, dessen Aufgabe es ist, drachenartige Reptilien namens Toudas zu züchten, die vom Militär zum Kämpfen eingesetzt werden. Ihre Mutter Soyon ist die Hauptverantwortliche für die Toudas, doch müssen sie und Erin damit leben, dass sie aufgrund der Abstammung von einem fremden Volk als Außenseiter betrachtet werden und man ihnen wenig vertraut. Erin will in die Fußstapfen ihrer Mutter treten, doch bricht ihr der mitunter brutale Umgang mit den Toudas das Herz und sie würde viel lieber versuchen, jene Wesen zu verstehen. Während sie noch über den Gegensatz zwischen ihren eigenen Wünschen und den Anforderungen als Touda-Züchter grübelt, kommt es jedoch eines Tages zu einer dramatischen Wende in ihrem Leben, die Erins Werdegang in eine völlig neue Bahn lenkt.

In the war against neighboring countries, the Grand Duke’s warriors use dragon-like beasts called Touda as weapons. Touda are admired across the nation and villages take great pride in breeding them. Erin lives in one such village with her mother, Soyon, who is the best beastinarian in the country. However, life in the village is not so straightforward: Soyon is also an Ariyo, a woman of the Mist People - a race that is feared by humans for its mystical abilities. So that she and Erin can stay in the village, Soyon must flawlessly fulfill her duty capturing and disciplining the Touda; but while Erin wants nothing more than to become a beastinarian, she also feels sorry for the Touda and recognizes that there’s far more to them than meets the eye. Can Erin ever become an ordinary beastinarian when her deepest instincts tell her there is a better way to interact with the Touda?

Dans un monde où les guerres pour la conquête d’un territoire sont légion, l'empire de Ryoza, qui est gouverné par une reine, réussit à vivre dans la prospérité. Si ses frontières sont souvent menacées, elles ne sont cependant jamais franchies grâce à la stratégie du Grand Duc, qui dirige l’armée. Cette dernière a un avantage majeur, puisqu’elle est la seule à pouvoir utiliser des bêtes sauvages et colossales appelées tôda durant les affrontements. Les tôda sont élevés dans le village d’Aka, situé à l’intérieur du royaume, bien loin des champs de bataille. Soyon y vit avec sa fille, Erin, qu’elle élève seule depuis la mort de son mari et a pour mission de soigner les tôda. Étant née dans le village de Kiri, elles a, avec sa fille, la particularité d’avoir les yeux verts, ce qui ne leur attire pas la sympathie de certains villageois. En regardant sa mère travailler, Erin tente d’apprendre tout ce qu’il faut savoir sur les tôda afin de pouvoir exercer plus tard le même métier qu’elle. Cependant, la jeune fille comprendra vite qu’élever des tôda n’est pas aussi amusant qu’elle le pense et que cette tâche contient sa part de risques. Elle sera alors partagée entre son amour pour eux et les règles du village, qui veut s’en servir comme « armes de guerre ».

Kemono no souja Erin è la storia della piccola Erin, bambina di 10 anni appartenente al “popolo della nebbia”, misteriosa tribù raminga dai capelli e occhi verdi che si ritiene dotata di chissà quali poteri magici. Solitamente, tra i normali esseri umani e la tribù della nebbia non ci sono contatti, salvo qualche sporadica contrattazione mercantile, tuttavia Erin è nata e cresciuta nel tranquillo villaggio rurale di Ake dal momento che sua madre, innamoratasi di un uomo del villaggio, decise di sposarlo e di abbandonare per sempre la sua gente. Il lavoro della madre di Erin, Soyon, è abbastanza particolare; ella è infatti una veterinaria di touda, razza di pericolosi rettili dalle draconiche sembianze allevati nel villaggio di Ake per poi essere utilizzati in guerra come cavalcature mobili. Enorme importanza è data ai touda, che grazie alla loro prestanza fisica sono alla base dei successi militari del Regno del Granduca, così come grande è la responsabilità che grava sugli addetti ai touda, che sono direttamente responsabili di qualsiasi danno questi subiscano mentre sono sotto le loro cure. Erin è una bambina vivace, curiosa e intelligente che sogna un giorno di seguire le orme della madre in quanto allevatrice di touda.

료자 신왕국(神王國)은 왕수(王獸:왕족 등의 교통수단)와 투사(鬪蛇:군사용의 동물)라는 동물들이 산다. 투사 조율사 마을에 사는 에린은 투사, 왕수 등과 교감하는 능력을 가진 소녀. 그러나 투사를 관리하는 어머니 소욘이 투사 관리에 결정적인 실책을 저질러 처형된 이후 꿀벌 조련사의 보호를 받다가 얼마 후 왕수 조율사 양성기관인 카자룸에 입학한다...

Среди вечных битв и людского хаоса поднялась великая, хранимая богами империя Рёдза. Никто не может посягнуть на ее пределы, да и внутри страны власть уже немолодой императрицы крепка и незыблема. Правда, кроме помощи богов у могущества империи есть еще одна простая причина - только в Рёдза умеют использовать для битвы драконоподобных ящеров Тода, небольшой отряд которых может разогнать любую армию. Аке – особая деревня, все жители которой, так или иначе, заняты работой с Тода, причем результаты курируются «с самого верха». Любая ошибка может дорого обойтись, поэтому Сойон и пыталась отговорить дочь, 8-летнюю Эрин, от выбора семейной профессии.

少女艾琳與母親蘇洋相依為命的住在鬥蛇眾的村子裏，由於蘇洋的醫術精湛，鬥蛇眾將鬥蛇中特別善戰的「牙」交由蘇洋照顧。有一天，村裏所有的「牙」一夜間全部死亡，蘇洋因此受到處刑。艾琳雖然努力想拯救母親卻失敗，淪為孤兒後受到養蜂人約翰的幫助。與約翰同住期間，艾琳在山中遇見翱翔天際的野生王獸，受到王獸飛翔的英姿吸引，艾琳決心與母親一樣成為獸醫。於是由約翰引薦給過去好友艾薩爾教導師長所在的卡札姆王獸保護場住校學習。 想要了解、幫助王獸、並與它們一起生活的艾琳成長得飛快。但她發現人類用來驅使王獸與鬥蛇的無聲獸笛會使動物們有短時間的僵硬。她開始對獸笛是否會對它們的身體產生負擔一事產生了疑問。她開始試着去與王獸進行交流，用自己優秀的記憶力，將它們的發音正確記下來，並完美地再現。在越來越了解王獸的生態之謎時，雖然不是出於艾琳的本意，卻自然地成為了真王與大公之外的又一新生力量。不久之後，艾琳就站在了能夠左右王國命運的立場上……
