Carol jde s Al a Karen do obchoďáku na konkurz pro modelky (to s Karen) a pro novou hokejku (s Al), ale fotograf si vybere Al. Karen zuří, ale nakonec se po domluvě od matky omluví, navíc když vidí, co si Al musí prožít. Frank hraje poker s kamarády a jako čtvrtého přijmou Codyho. Cody nechce hrát, protože vždycky všechno vyhraje. Nakonec jej přemluví, ale Cody toho brzy nechá - je totiž opět k neporažení.
Karen will unbedingt als Model für eine Jeanskampagne ausgewählt werden. Als ihre Stiefschwester Al den Job bekommt, ist sie zutiefst gekränkt. Karen will unbedingt das Stop Jeans Girl in einer Werbekampagne werden, doch die Konkurrenz ist überwältigend. Zufällig wird Karen von Al begleitet, die das ganze Theater albern findet und das dem berühmten Fotografen auch unverblümt ins Gesicht sagt. Der ist hingerissen von der frechen Göre und engagiert sie vom Fleck weg. Karen ist eifersüchtig auf den Erfolg ihrer Stiefschwester und versucht alles, um Al so zu verunsichern, dass sie die Aufnahmen schmeißt. Fast gelingt ihr der intrigante Plan, aber dann regen sich doch schwesterliche Gefühle in ihr und sie steht Al mit Rat und Tat zur Seite. Frank lädt Cody zu einem Pokerspiel ein, doch auf ihm lastet der Fluch des Glücks und er gewinnt nicht nur das Pokerspiel, sondern unter anderem auch eine Karibik-Kreuzfahrt. Cody ist kreuzunglücklich mit dem Glücksregen, der auf ihn niedergeht und sehnt ein kleines Unglück herbei, das nicht lange auf sich warten lässt.
Karen is having an interview at the mall for a jeans ad. The photographer is looking for a girl to promote the jeans ""with an attitude."" Al actually gets the job, which drives Karen crazy. Karen gets mad at Carol because she is not showing favoritism to her daughter (over her step-daughter). Carol is hurt and says that the whole Lambert/Foster family should be thought of as one family. Karen gets the point and is able to calm down Al with a ""family"" pep talk.
Cody thinks he is the victim of some mysterious curse that makes him lucky at whatever he does, thus taking all the fun and excitement out of life. When Frank makes him play poker, the curse is re-activated. Cody wins $1,000 and a trip to the Bahamas, but breaks the curse by having an industrial accident in his van.
