Frank je naštvaný, protože minulý rok vydělal méně než Carol a tak si hledá vedlejší zaměstnání. Nakonec jej přijmou jako maskota - kuře, které rozdává letáky. Carol Franka potká a řekne mu, že jí nezáleží na tom, kolik vydělává. Cody, poté, co knihami zničí Danin koláč a Carol a Al vyzradí rozřešení jejich knih, dělá vedoucího čtenářského kroužku v knihovně a pozve tam Brendana a jeho kamarády. Když má přijít řada na Brandova kamaráda, vymluví se a odejde. Cody zjistí, že nechce číst, protože to příliš neumí a stydí se. Cody jej přesvědčí slibem, že jej číst naučí.
Cody hat seine Liebe zu Büchern entdeckt und tritt in der Bibliothek als Märchenonkel auf. Bei seinen kleinen Zuhörern hat er durchschlagenden Erfolg. Cody hat es in einen Schnell-Lese-Kurs verschlagen und schon verschlingt er begeistert ein Buch nach dem anderen. Auch die anderen Kinder interessieren sich plötzlich für die Bücherei. J.T. und Karen, weil sie denken, dass man dort gut flirten kann und Brendan, weil er die Märchenstunde liebt. Dort übernimmt neuerdings Cody mit Bravour die Rolle des Märchenonkels.
Cody reads so much that he ruins the stories (by telling the ending) for JT, Al, and Carol and desserts (by crushing it with a big box of books) for Dana. However, it does yield him a job as a story time reader for the little kids at the library. He makes the reading time tons of fun and even teaches one of Brendan's friends to read.
While filling out their taxes, Frank realizes Carol made more money than he did the previous year. He gets frantic over not being the ""provider"" of the family so he looks for a part time job. He looks everywhere but ends up passing out coupons for a local fried chicken restaurant while dressed as a chicken. Carol is, however, able to convince him that he is a great companion and father and she is perfectly satisfied with that.
