Speed, along with Trixie, Sparky, and the Mach 5 are on their way to Sandoland to compete in the Desert Race. Kim Jugger tells Speed that "he doesn't have a chance of winning." He orders the workmen to load his car, the Black Tiger, first. Spritle and Chim Chim disguise themselves and board the plane. After frightening the stewardess, they escape into the cargo area. A one-eyed man enters and the two youngsters see him plant a time bomb in Kim's racecar.
Upon landing, the Black Tiger explodes. Kim accuses Speed of ordering his brother to sabotage his car. Speed denies the accusation and a fight ensues. At the hotel, Spritle tells Speed what happened in the airplane. Determined to prove his innocence, Speed and Trixie head out to Flathill Country, Kim's homeland. After surviving a sandstorm, the Mach 5 is surrounded by rebel soldiers. Unfortunately, the Mach 5 crashes when it autojacks over a sand dune.
Durante a viagem para a Terra da Areia, o carro Tigre Negro, do piloto Kim Zigue Zague, é sabotado e Speed acaba levando injustamente a fama.
Speed, Trixie, Gorducho e Zequinha vão até a fortaleza de Kim, sem saber que um grupo de rebeldes havia tomado o local e deposto o Governo da Colina Baixa. É revelado que o pai de Kim foi quem mandou seu capanga, Ali Bem Safado, explodir o Tigre Negro. Mas Kim e Speed querem saber quem é o melhor piloto e decidem realizar uma corrida mortal pelo deserto.
Cena memorável: Gorducho e Zequinha se perdem no deserto. Depois de horas expostos ao Sol começam a ver miragens. Entre bolhas e mergulhos imaginários, os dois se divertem na areia, crentes que estão nadando em águas cristalinas.
剛は砂漠縦断レースに出場するため飛行機に乗り込んだが、機内でウルム国のレーサー・キムクのブラックタイガー号に爆弾が仕掛けられ、破壊される。犯人だと疑われた剛は、潔白を証明するためウルム国へ向かう。
